In our community we have different opinions regarding the issue. Basically, our Arab brothers are saying that Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not say the Du`a collectively, therefore, we should not do it, while others say that he has done it. I would really appreciate if you could clarify this matter.

A person has committed zina (fornication) outside of marriage and does not intend to marry the woman. The person considers the action a grave mistake and has repented by asking Allah for forgiveness, resolving never to perform the act again, and feeling remorse for the action. The sin is still concealed and only known to the two involved. Does the person need to be given 100 lashes in order to complete the repentance and gain forgiveness from Allah?

I am a new Muslim. I have been a Christian the majority of my life. My main question is about prayer. When I am about in town, doing business, and there is no nearby masjid, what should I do when my phone goes off and says it’s time for prayer? Should I pray at Star Bucks, the library, the grocery store parking lot, parks, wherever? I also want to know where I am not allowed to pray. I was told that the whole world is a masjid; however, someone said to me don’t pray here or there.

As-Salamu `alayku m. I am middle aged and approaching menopause. My periods are very irregular in every way— when they come, how long they last, how heavy the flow is, the color of the blood.Sometimes, I start to have bleeding and it appears to be menstrual (brown or pink) so I stop praying (and fasting in Ramadan). Then nothing more comes. A few times when this happened, it was 48 hours before more blood appeared. So last month when some blood appeared, I waited 48 hours before I made ghusl and prayed again, though nothing had come out during that time. Then again on the first day of Ramadan, at Zhuhr time it looked like I was starting a period so I broke my fast and didn’t pray. I also didn’t fast the second day, thinking that I had started a period and more would come, but there was nothing. I didn’t want to wait 48 hours again, so I made ghusl and prayed `Isha’.The things I have read on fiqh don’t seem to quite answer my questions: How long should I wait before I start to pray (and fast) again when I have some menstrual-looking bleeding (if nothing more appears)? Do I have to make up the missed prayers when I wait to see if I’m “really” having a period?

Here in Britain, the Friday khutbah (sermon) is attended by those who understand Arabic as well as those who do not, and all or most of them understand the language of this country, i.e., English. Is it then permissible to deliver the khutbah in the language of the audience rather than Arabic?

As-salamu `alaykum. Suppose that I have a bank where I save my money. The problem is that they put interest money into my account. I know to receive or give interest is forbidden in Islam, but I know that I can take out the money and use it for other purposes. I believe I can't donate to the mosque, but please confirm this. Can I give it to the following: (1) orphanage school, (2) p oor people, (3) a person who is indebted? Can I add some of my own money to the interest money to feed the poor? What if the interest money is so much that I can feed 100 poor people—can I use it for that purpose? The reason I don't want to give them in cash is because I have the fear that they might use it for the wrong purpose.

Can Muslims be strictly non-violent? Too often the media in the West presents the image of Muslims as violent, but I know this is not correct. I’m a Muslim, but insha'Allah, I will never kill anyone, or even hurt them intentionally. When I watch the genocide in Chechnya or Bosnia, or the tragedy which unfolds in Palestine, it makes me very angry and very sad. I pray that Allah will allow peace to prevail among humanity, between the Muslims and the non-Muslims alike. I like to think that I and other Muslims can be a force for peace rather than for violence. Am I wrong? Thank you for your help.  Assalamu alaikum.i have some questions about zakat on wealth (not zakat alfitr): basically every year on the last day of ramadan, i calculate all the wealth i have (in cash, stocks, and wife's gold holding) and apply the 2.5% to calculate the zakat.however as i live in belgium, i usually send the money to my dad in lebanon and he distributes to needy relatives (not direct parents or descendents of mine). that means the money is actually payed later than the last day of ramadan when i calculate my zakat. recently i found some articles that say zakat shouldn't be delayed and should be payed on the day it reaches the hawl (1 year).so the questions are: 1- can the day zakat is calculated on be different than the day it's paid?. i remember i read somewhere that i have upto 1 year (before next zakat calculation) to pay it. is this correct?2- if this isn't correct, it's very hard for me to do the calculations all in one day and pay the zakat. reason is that i have to wait until stock market closes to get the exact value of my stocks, also i have to find out the value of gold on that day, and then i have to ask my dad to pay the money from his bank account while i transfer this to him.3-if the value of my stocks went below the nisab during the current year, do i still have to pay zakat on it?4- some of my individual stocks were below the nisab this year, do i calculate the zakat on each individual stock which was above the nisab? or this is not allowed and i should calculate the total worth of the stocks and pay zakat on that?Jazakum Allah khayran. I read that the Hanafischolars and the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR) approved that Muslim minorities living in Western countries, under certain conditions, are allowed to undertake transactions that are illicit in Islamic Shari`ah. Thus, in 2006 I decided to buy 30% of a hotel for commercial business by means of a bank loan with interest for a period of seven years. I live in France  and no banks give loans without interest. However, I have some doubts about the legality of this transaction and I would like to have your opinion on the matter. If you consider this to be an illicit transaction, what should I do now? Should I sell my share now or continue under the bank loan for another four years? As for the money I have earned for two-and-a-half years what should I do with it?

First of all, banks in Azerbaijan has two kinds of function. First, customer service of cash withdraw or etc. Second, credit and loans (RIBA).therefore the issue of banks creadit and having interests making us think about what kind of service can we provide to them, since we have companies and organizations too. Some banks are requesting our services. For example, we have a large company, under this we have got ofice furnitures stores, audit and accounting services, other sales stores. If we assume that any bank wanted to get one of ours services, can we offer them any of our services? Is it halal? Or is there any conditions and rules?The other question is, if a person got an offer to work only in bank, but not in a credit section, but in customer service section (cashier), is it possible?

Dear Scholars Assalam Alaikum, I am working in a national sports federation, wherein they generate revenues from various sponsors. Lately I came to know that one of the sponsor?s only area of business is running a lottery outlet (in other words gambling).  We get extra salary for our overtime, and upon enquiry it was known, that a part of the said over time salary comes from the revenue received from this particular sponsor.as su ch, is my salary halal? after having the knowledge that my employers are encouraging the sponsor in conducting the business which is plainly haram in Islam. It is said that when good people die, they see where they are going and so they are buried as quickly as possible; and that if bad people die, they also see where they are going and don’t want to be buried quickly. One time my brother found a cat and he wanted to take care of it but we couldn't allow it in the house because we were afraid it might have something but we fed it milk and bread everyday. I felt so sad for the cat it was so strong it was walking through the snow, but in the summer we found it's body laying in our garage, the door was open and I was so sad that I blame myself, because I did'nt let it in the then he would've been alive is it my fault?

I am a student studying in a western country who still lives at home, I study tourism and have been working for the past few years in restaurants, until just recently I did not know that serving alcohol and pork was haram. I thought maybe it was makruh but once I found out it was haram al hamdulileh I stopped working and serving these things and am making tauba to Allah to forgive me. It is particularly hard to find a job in restaurants or tourism in this country which does not involve serving these things as very very few dont serve it. I therefore have many questions to ask relating to this:1. I had been working in restaurants which serve alcohol and pork for a few years and I managed to save a decent amount of money which I intended to use for marriage and things relating to that such as a deposit for an apartment, is it ok for me to use this money? will the things I spend my money on inshallah be blessed by Allah? Should I donate a specific amount of money to cleanse the money, if so how much percent? If I should donate money does it have to be immediately or can I donate it later on in the future?2. My father also works in a western country and in the same field and his job involves serving pork and alcohol, currently I am in need of my fathers support for study fees and help with costs for an apartment and other things, is it ok to accept financial support from my father? will the things this money is spent on inshallah be blessed by Allah? do I have to cleanse this money, if so how?3. Can I/should I pay my zakah from my money which I have saved from previously working in serving alcohol and pork? 4. In this country and especially in the field of tourism it is quite hard to find a job avoiding serving alcohol or pork although there are some, I have been looking for a job for months and cannot find any that dont involve serving these things, is it permissible to work in serving them temporarily until I find a halal job?Gazzakumallah Khayr

Which was offered to me by a private bank upon my graduation from medical school. I would like to know if this type of insurance is permitted in islam. Basically, you select the amount of coverage you would like in the event of injury (which includes bodily harm and anything else which may permenantly or temporarily prevent you from working such as depression). The higher the amount insured, the higher is the monthly payment.There is no interest involved and hte contract is locked meaning that it is not changable over time with regards to coverage or monthly payments unless I would like to upgrade the amount.Is this type of insurance permitted in islam? If someone enganged in conversations involving gheebah doesn't identify the person of whom he is talking about, neither by his/her name or appearance, is it considered gheebah still? I think this is a major sin Muslims are taking too lightly nowadays, often forgetting it is a MAJOR sin. I often try to advise people by holding my own tongue with my fingers, but I'm not taken seriously. Alhamdulillah my arabic is very poor but many times I can understand the subject people are talking about and I often caught them in conversations involving gheebah and nameemah. (My husband and his friends, and the sisters with whom I am often are arabic speakers).

I'm currently working as a freelance translator. I have a problem with income as one month I make good money, the other not as much, sometimes even nothing at all. I was considering the option of subtitling movies as an additional source of income but was wondering if subtitling American movies (or foreign in general)  would be "haram" or permissible, given that the content may not always be Islamically acceptable. Should I go for it or not? 

My wife and i have been married for 8 years and we have a 4 year old daughter, my wife had (2) miscarriages before the successful birth.Since my daughter birth we have been trying to conceive another child without any luck. we found out 2 years ago that my semen is sporadic, (Excellent-to-bad) motility wise. My wife is unwilling to do IVF b/c she's afraid of the side effects (Weight gain, mood swings, the possibility of cancer in her later years)Since then she's been saying that she wants a divorce b/c I'm broken and allah is punishing me by not letting me have any more children. Our doctor states that if we do IVF is will work and their is a 75% chance we can have twins. But my wife is unwilling to have IVF, b/c she wants to have her kids naturally.She is also saying that i a wasting her life by only giving her (1) child and if we divorce she can have the change to remarry and try to have more children.P.S my sister-in-law did IVF and it work for her. I am asking because my menstruation did not start on its due date this month, so I started taking black seed because I heard that it helps with menstruation. My question is as following - i truly much hope you can guide me and answer my concerns: Part 1: Is it allowed in Islam for a Muslim woman to marry a Christian man? If the non-Muslim man acknowledges the Prophet Mohammed (asws) as the final prophet and Islam as the last completing religion, and prophet Issa (asws) is Allah's messenger and not his son, is that enough without the need to convert to Islam? If the Muslim woman has the sole control of raising and directing the family? Part 2: If the non-Muslim man converts, how would he deal with his non-Muslim family, parents and relatives? What if he has kids from a former marriage who are Christians as well - how would he deal with them? how would these kids fit with his Muslim kids? Please advice - jazak Allah (swt) khairan.

Dear scolars as-salamu ´alaikum I just read about when people write words of quran and then dissolve it in water then drink it, im not sure but i have one sheikh in my family that i think have done something like that. I wonder if i could get more information about it.I have also seen many sheiks fron kurdistan, many of them are very well educated and knows alot about islam. They wrote down something to my cousine.(My cousine was scared .)it was a Du´a and put in into a small bowl of water i and a relative of mine did salawat on the du´a and the chlid(my cousine). After  doing this they took the water and washed her hands and legs with it. Now i want to know weather this is haram or not?

As Salam O Alaikum i am in problem of devorce, i told my wife ( Actualy i dont want to say and not my niyaa her my mother forced me to say, otherwise i have to leave my mother this what my mother said to me) if you meet with your mother you wil have devorce 3 times at once.sir it is not my intension to give her devorce even that the word devorce was not in my mind i cant think to give her devorce, the only instension was that may be she will affraid and will not meet with her mother and also my mother intension is the same( she told me with witness my sister and brother)..but my wife meet with her mother forcely by her uncle even she dont want to meet with her mother. i want to know that all the three devorce is applicable. because this forcely, and not my niyaa. What i wanted to know is that if one is aroused by by his wife and notices that he has had a slight leakage down below then is he required do to full guhsul or is he required to preform just wudhu, also does this apply to both of them if they had same reaction. thank you for help

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum.The World Health Organization (WHO) raised its swine flu alert to the highest level, declaring a state of public health emergency since the disease has become a global pandemic. Is it permissible for Muslims, in this state, to abandon the Jumu`ah and congregational Prayers? Is it permissible for the state to intervene by preventing the performance of rituals which require people meeting in a public place? Also, what is the ruling of entering areas where the pandemic has spread, and leaving it? Could you kindly enlighten us on this is sue?JazakumAllahu Khayran.

My sister, who is now about 40 years old have become an apostate, she says "i tried and it gave me nothing", i have tried for years now to explain to her the wrong path she's taking but to no vain. I cant stand seeing her living like this, so after all this years i decided 6 months ago to cut all ties with her. My question is, have i done the correct thing considering Surah Muhammad aya 22? I'm staying in London and planning to go to Makkah during Ramadaan and spend about 10 days there doing Ibadah (reason being the reward for praying in Masjid Al Harm is more than praying anywhere else). While staying in Makkah I also intend to perform Umrah. Can it be possible that I make intention of going to Makkah for Ibadah and after staying there for a day or two make intention of performing Umrah and then enter Ihram from the Hotel in which I'm residing.

Our great deen, Al Islam, teaches us to judge our fellow muslims based on their current practice of Islam regardless of their sinful past. I understand that the door of repentance is wide open for those who sincerely regret and vow never to repeat a sinful act again. Now, what is the ruling if that person falls to the same heinous act (zina) a second time after asking for tawba? Are we supposed to forgive again and look beyond this kabira? What is the assurance that this potential spouse has truly repented this time around? When does a sinful act become "histor y" that we should no longer delve into or take into consideration when considering a potential spouse? Or do we keep forgiving in the hopes that he/she eventually gives up committing this kabira?Awaiting your kind advice and guidance on this important matter. Jazzakallah khair.

Zinas salaamu alaikom i know a person who was getting divorced and had two weeks left unti l it was over but eneded up meeting another man and committed zina with him, after she was divorced she found out she was pregnant for the man she committed zina with, can she marry this man and what should she do to rectify this?

Salam alikom My father passed away, he had made a joint bank account with me with most of his money so after he died legall y the money is mine but I?m not sure if this is right from a religious point of view. So what should I do, should I divided the money with the other heirs?thanks

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum.Paid-to-click sites can provide me with some extra income, where I am able to join the site for free and get paid for viewing several advertisements provided by the site. Most of the sites may have some advertisements of casinos, alcoholic beverages, or other things prohibited by our religion. My first question is, can I avoid those advertisements and still be able to earn from that site? Or do I have to avoid those sites which allow prohibited advertisements?Those sites give me a commission for referring other people to the site, and the site will give me a commission every time my referral (the person I referred to the site) views advertisements on the site (e.g. 5 percent of his views earnings; note that this percentage is not deducted from the referral's account but is given to me by the site). Of course this means that if my referral stops clicking at that site, I won't earn any more commission (as long as the referral clicks and earns, I can earn the commission.)These sites also offer upgrades where I pay a certain amount of money to increase my commission for a set period of time (e.g. US$20 to raise the 5 percent to 50 percent for a year) so that now the site will automatically award me 50% instead of the 5% for a year. Also note that this upgrade sometimes includes privileges for its buyer. Assalam-Aliekum.I would like clarification in regards to the below mentioned hadith from Sahih Muslim:PROHIBITION−OF KILLING THE ANTS:Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: An ant had bitten a Prophet (one amongst the earlier Prophets) and he ordered that the colony of the ants should be burnt. And Allah revealed to him:" Because of an ant's bite you have burnt a community from amongst the communities which sings My glory."A friend of mine recently told me that he could not find any literature on who the prophet mentioned in the hadith was. He said he found a similar story in the book of revelation and that it was Prophet Ezekiel, and that the bible clarified something that was missing in the Quran and hadith. I find this hard to believe. Can you please clarify.Thank you.

I work as an engineer in a company that produce biodiesel in USA.1) Currently I'm working on a project of producing biodiesel by blending it together animal fats and diesel oil . The main source of the animal fat is choice white grease which is pork fats . As a muslim , is it halal or haram if i involve in this project ?2) The company that I'm working for is run by non-muslim (USA company and workers 99% non-muslim) but it is 100% own by parent foreign company which is has 90% muslim shares in it .The parent company involved in vegetable oil business and never deal with pork products before and they didn't know what the company in USA doing right now.Is the profit that will be made from buying pork fats ,blend it together with other fats and selling it as biodiesel will be consider halal or haram?Since the parent company didn't know this activity , should I tell them as i do not want to be syubaha'?Thank youJazakallah

Dear scholar, Assalamilikumthank you for giving me the opportunity for seeking help and advice through this website and also for many other brother and sister?s out their who are seeking knowledge. INSHALLAH may ALLAH tala grant you all prosperity .AMEEN.My issue is regarding black magic. First of all I would just like to give you an overview of the situation. I wanted to marry my cousin in Pakistan. They proposed to our family 5 years ago, however parents post phoned the decision until I visited Pakistan. However another family wanted their daughter to get married to my cousin but he did not approve of her at the time. Later misunderstandings developed between me and my cousin which resulted in myself  and therefore I lost all forms of contact. The family that wanted their daughter to get married to my cousin came to the UK. However when they went back to Pakistan after a couple of months my cousin agreed to marry my other cousin and got engaged to her without saying anything to anyone. He was completely against me and my family. Recently I visited Pakistan and found out from some close cousins that the girl?s parents may have practiced black magic on my cousin. Also another person has seen evidence of this such as pictures being at the person?s house that did the magic such as a peer or something. Also the man admitted doing it. However, I know that going to soothsayers, peers etc and even getting the magic reversed is haram if im not wrong? As a Muslim I can?t think of bad for their engagement but I do feel that I may be able to do something about the black magic? Is their anything I can read? Or any dua?s or please can you offer me any advice regarding this issue. I mean it could also be the will of ALLAH swt. My cousin does seem to have changed a lot personality wise etc..i do understand that people can change over time Also I believe I was in depression and started doing wrong acts, however I realised and stopped doing them and want to seek forgiveness from ALLAH swt, are their any dua?s I could use?. Or is it possible to contact a molvi that can help take black magic away. I have also experienced a lot of anxiety and depression are their any supplications for that? Also there are problems with extended family are their any supplications I can recite which could resolve misunderstandings and problems with them.I have recently started praying 5 times MASHALLAH?I would like to make up for prayers that I have missed at what age do u have to start praying the full prayers also as I have been missing prayers and reading at the same time I may find it difficult to remember the ones I have missedwould I have to go back count the years and months I have nto prayed and do qaza for all of them? Or for a peace of mind make up all of the years even I have read some of them? How we can define the anger is extreme or mild? 2-.Is divorce being counted when the husband gives divorce to his wife without witness3.What about the existence of black magic (Sihir-Jin magic) in Islam. Asalaam o aliakum Why is my family so mean? Some of my brothers, all my uncles, aunts, cousins, and sister in-laws are always trying to put me down or find some ways to get me hurt.  They accuse me of things I haven?t done or said.  They teach their children not to respect me.    My sister in-laws believe in black magic and they try to hurt me through that. Out side the house, everyone loves me and adores me for what and how I am.  As for as I remember, I never hurt anyone except helped as much as I could.  I pray most of the time, I give my charity, and I am thankful to Allah for everyday and everything than why am I treated so badly in my family.they emotionally hurt me all the time.   Am I cursed?  However, when they need money, the first door they knock is mine.

Assalam AlaikumI married someone I wanted to marry whom my parents disapproved of. Because I was afraid of my father, I did not disclose this to them for 2 months, but then I told them the whole truth and was sorry for not being bold enough to tell them before. My husband is a practicing Muslim with the same ethnicity as me.My father now says he will disown me because of this and has forbidden my mother and sister from meeting me.He says he does not recognise the marriage and he will not allow any of the children born to this marriage to meet him or my mom. Is this attitude of disowning and abandoning ones child acceptable in ISlam? Is there any Quranic reference /HAdith to support your argument?

What about other uses of alcohol in the following categories: rubbing over an injury, cologne or perfumes that contain alcohol, toothpaste that contains alcohol and using any soap or any cleaning material that contains alcohol?
