In many a case in the Qur’an and the Sunnah an account of some person or some people are mentioned without much details with the purpose of drawing the lessons from this account. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was not a story-teller nor is the Qur’an a history book or a biographical one. Stories mentioned in the Qur’an and the Sunnah are meant for their lessons As long as the details are irrelevant to the lesson, they were omitted and dropped for what is more relevant.
Some of these accounts have been also mentioned in the bible with more details. We Muslims believe that this bible is distorted, but it still may contain some true things. As long as the content of these details does not contradict any of the teachings of our religion, we may report them not believing in their truthfulness but only in a neutral tone.
