Assalam Alaikkum, Do we need to sleep before Thahajjud prayer? Some times I go to sleep very late in the weekends, so I offer thahajjud and witr before I go to sleep and gets up at the time of fajr since there is no time to sleep before doing night prayer. Is this allowed?

I wanted to inquire about wearing Silk Ties. I am sure it is a famous questions and I did read lots of your answers regarding this issue on the website, but I am still confused about it. First of all, I have to mention that there is absolutely no tie nowawadays that is not made of silk and that makes it very hard for Muslims to appear elegant. (except wool ties of course which are not that good). I searched a lot for non-silk ties here in Germany and the best I could find was made up of only 25% of silk and the rest is either linen or cotton. Now, the question is whether it is allowed to wear such a tie. I know the Hadith of `Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, who said that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, forbade the wearing of silk except for an area the width of two fingers, or three or four (meaning a small amount of silk that equals two, three, or four close fingers). So what does four close finger physically mean when it comes to ties, is it about 20 or 30% Silk ?Furthurmore, what is the tie made of artificial silk rather than nature silk ?Looking forward for your reply..

May Allah (SWT)  grant us understanding, comprehension and a love of that which is lawful and that which falls within that which Allah (SWT) has allowed us to do.May Allah (SWT) steer us away from that which would cause His Displeasure. This Question is with regards to the use of gelatin in nutritional supplements... In my previous experiences, I have overcome illness with correct nutritional support and other 'natural' alternatives to obtaining health and wellness Alhamdulillah. This is very a different approach from mainstream medicine because it is usually not evident until /for a few weeks if something is working well.also, discontinuation of a particular supplement or course of treatment with something inferior may not cause death but it is very possible that one could feel poorly form the result of it or could get a recurrence of a symptom. It is very possible.With that in mind, I DO have a few regular supplements, which are made from Gelatin of an unknown origin(Possibly haraam animal source)these are also some of the best products that I could find, and the scenario which I have described above applies to me in this instance. Although, there ARE some alternatives available they are not really suitable due to the fact that I don't think that they are strong enough to use as of yet. I am still in recovery phase and the 'alternatives' are not really suitable as they will not be supportive enough...On the same note, With regards to something called a glandular extract. This I found works Quite well for other issues but is usually obtained from animal(Bovine) Origin.. It is very likely that it not slaughtered in accordance with Sharee-ah but has powerful healing properties in my experience.This situation of mine is similar to the one outlined previously but it is not as bad... I may be able to find somethign appropriate or similar or just as helpful but it will take some searching and it will take some time...The same or similar logic applies to a tincture which I have which is suspended in (medicinal) alcohol.Is this permissible?? Or would I have to seek out other means to help my health?

Dear Respected Sir, I am desperately seeking your lecture on this matter that I am going to disclose to you now. I had conversation with my friend in USA on British teacher in Sudan accused of insulting Islam in naming one of her student?s teddy bear Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). My friend argued that the sentence passed on British teacher was nonsense. It?s common to name pets n toys in USA. He told that Muslim justice are unfair and against human rights. What do you say to the ppl who argue that using the star position and palm reading to foretell opportune and disadvantageous times of a year, month and day is a tool to be used and not in any way the reason for the event. They argue they are not arguing against Gods will and power ( takdir )  over events in a persons life but just making judgements on what has already been decided. A sort of roadmap.They argue the stars are under the control of Allah and the knowledge of astrology is given by Allah to benefit mankind. They argue astrology makes life easier by giving suggestion on things to look out for based on probable chances of events occuring / human characters strength and weakness / opportune time etc. These  educated guesses based on star positions and palm reading minimizes the bad effects stars have on people and enhances the good effect. This is the argument given to me by a person who belives in Vedic astrology . What should be my answer? I need to know about the matter more to make a valid argument against it. Salaams. I have a question regarding hadd. I have read that there is no differentiation of punishment whether an unmarried Muslim has fornicated with a Muslim or a non-Muslim. Either way punishment would be flogging not stoning. However, I have read that in certain cases Non-Muslim men who have fornicated with unmarried Muslim women have been treated as adulterers and stoned. I feel it is unfair for the Non-Muslim to have the greater punishment as they have not the same knowledge of Islam, nor have they accepted it. Please can you clarify this?

We fought, and he divorced me. He went away to get married from his country. Do I need to wait for three months before I can get married again (knowing that I am still virgin)? my brother took a shop on rent.to get it he had to pay some money to the the person who was alreading renting it. is such a payment halaal.ie money is given to a person who doesnot own that shop so that my brother can now use it.now after some time my brother is planning to vacate it. and he will give the shop to another person only if he gotsome money for it, even though he doesnot own it. is this halaal i see that such practices are widespread.some are saying that it is haraamthe owner doesnot care about these transactions as long as he gets the rent which he has stipulated.the contract isbetween the rentee and the owner.

Alsalam alaikom we rahmat Allah we barakatoh, respected Scholars,how are the rules for a muslima being treated by a male doctor? I am pregnant and due to deliver in about 2 weeks. For the last weeks of pregnacy I am staying with my parents cause my husband is very busy at work, more than 12hours a day so he might not be at home when labor begins. But my parents are living on an island and the only obstetrician/ gynecologist here is a man. I used to travel far to go to a female doctor, but in the case of delivery it is not possible, as there are just certain times when there leave ferries from the island to the main land and you can't determine the time of birth exactly. Is it in this case permissible to go to a male doctor, for the last check-up before birth, the delivery itself and  the first necessary check-ups after birth? I feel very uncomfortable as the male doctor will see my private parts and in birth even more... over here they suggest to wear just a t-shirt for birth, I decided to a wear kneelong, longsleeve shirt instead and my headscarf and pants, but at a certain point I will have to take off my pants and directly after birth they usually put the baby on the naked breast and belly so that it will here the heartbeat and can suckle the breast for the first time.. I wanna give my baby the best and softest start into life inshaallah so I would like to do that. I will have a midwife to be with me in birth, but overhere midwifes are not allowed to operate without the presence of the doctor for any case of emergency. So the male doctor will be present most of the time.. how am I supposed to deal with this situation? And another question: The midwife suggests music that calms down the mum-to-be, as I don't listen music and love to listen quran, I think it would be very relaxing to listen the reciting of quran for me and as well for the baby as it has been listening quran often while still being in the belly, is it permissible to listen alquran alkarim while giving birth?

Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatu i would like to ask if it is permissible to sell clothes that could have been made with dyes, and other chemcials, of animal origins.Please note that i am not aware if those clothes are made with dyes and chemicals of synthetic origin, or animal origin.Should i go through the process of finding about the origin of these dyes and chemicals, knowing that this could place some hardship on me, not really knowing the nature ofthese chemiclas in the first place? Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatu i would like to ask if it is permissible to make biodiesel or soap with waste vegetable oil (which is the cooking oil thrown away after it was used in the kitchen to make food).After being used,this oil still has food particles in it.this oil could have been used to fry pork products.But prior to using this waste cooking oil to make biodisel or soap,the oil will be filtered using a filter not allowing particles greater than one micrometer to be in the final product(biodiesel or soap). As you can see,the food particles left in the filtered oil will be very very small indeed,and cannot be seen with the naked eyes, but can only be seen with powerfull scientific instruments.I would like to emphasis that we do not know if the non-filterd wate cooking oil,  was at all used to fry items containing pork products.This filetred oil will be used to make biodiesel, which goes into car tank, so perhapsthere is no obejection here. But it could also be used to make soap. When people wash their  hands the soap could splash  on their clothes, so this is my concern if the tinyharam particles stay in people's clothes while they are praying.These particles will not be transformed during the chemical reactions for making soap or biodiesel.So please tell me if it allowed to use waste cooking oil to make biodiesel or soap knowing these facts. However, this year, I agreed to do a Ruhi Introduction Course (an Introduction to the Baha'i Faith course) because I had a friend who is a Baha'i and she approached me about it. I approached this situation as if it were any other faith, expecting that this experience would strengthen my Iman.However, several things happened during the course of Ruhi Intro. In addition to developing romantic feelings for my friend, I also began to read more intensely about the Baha'i faith and am now confused about what to do. I know that I love Allah (SWT) and I love my Islam and my belief in it is unwavering, but there are tenants of the Baha'i faith that make practical sense for this day and age.I am here to ask a few questions concerning my situation:1.    Was my agreeing to go through the Ruhi Introduction Course halal in accordance to Islamic Law?2.    I have made it a point to make sure that my actions concerning my friend do not end up being haram in accordance to Islamic Law. what duties does my husband have towards  his mum and dad and brothers and sisters? and who is suppose to come first in the realtionship his family or his wife and child?

I need clarification on something please.  In Surat al Hajj, verse 23 (and in many other places in the Qur'an) I've noticed that when speaking of Jannah it says the dwellers of Jannah will be clothed in silk and adorned with gold bracelets.  "...they shall be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearls; and their garments there will be of silk" (22:23)  I'm just wondering since the Prophet (s.a.w) said this about silk: ?This cloth is not suitable for the God fearing?. (Bukhari, Kitaab al-Libaas)  and it's well known gold is the same... then how come it will be worn in Jannah? Are things prohibited in the dunya allowed in Jannah? I understand silk is prohibited for reasons of extravagance, Israaf, so am I right in guessing that the believers have been rewarded lavish luxuries and extravagances in Jannah because they have earned the right to endulge in Israaf?  Thanking you in advance...

My question is whether or not Muslim women are allowed to wear pants/jeans while going out in public, say for shopping.I am not talking of the tight, body-hugging varieites but of loose pants that don't reveal the shape of the legs etc and are worn with tops that cover the bottoms and reach till the hips. Is it forbidden (haram) or not, in this case? If I wear pants, is it like I am copying men (which is not allowed) or other non-Muslim women?

This is quite urgent, and I'm sure your answer to my question will be beneficial to the entire Muslim community.almost all soaps manufactured here contain an animal by-product (sodium tallow ate) in them. They also contain glycerin, which may come from plants or animals. Is it haram to use them? 100-percent vegetable-made soaps are also available in the market, but they are much more expensive. Same is the case with creams, lotions, and cosmetics. I heard someone quoting a sheikh who said it is OK to use them since the animal by-products completely lose their original state or composition in the entire process of manufacture.  I have questions about Mahr. Could you first explain what exactly it is? When a divorce takes place, does the wife get to keep ALL her Mahr, when it is not her fault the marriage is breaking up?

As-salamu `alaykum, respected scholars. Isn't it wrong to call oneself sayyid (Arabic for: noble one) and claim that one is a direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)? I don't think this is something that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would have condoned. We will be judged by our actions and not by whose descendant we are. What difference does it make? Jazaka Allahu khayran.

Aslaamu Alaikum wa Rahmat Allah wa BarakatoDear scholars,I have a couple of questions please and I hope I get the answers Insha-Allah. The first is in Sora Al-Kahf  18:50 says Iblees is from the Jin. Also in Sora Al-Aaraaf 7:11-12 also says he was from Jin (created from fire). So my question is, how did Iblees disobeyed Allah The Almighty when Allah commanded the ?Angels? to bow to Adam and not Iblees since he is a Jin? It?s not like the Christians where they say he is a fallen angel because the Quran Clearly states he was created from fire and angels are from light. Second question is, I am confused about the Islamic law for the Murtad (Apostasy). Why they are stoned to death? I mean is there a verse commands to do so, or the prophet did it? Didn?t Allah said in Sora Al-Bakara 2:256 ?La Ekraah Fel Deen? and also in Sora Al-Kaferoon 109:6 says ?Lakum Deenakum Wal Yadeen? and also Sora Al Kahf 18:29 says ?the Truth is from your Lord, anyone who wants to believe then let him believe, and anyone who doesn?t then also let him?? So I don?t understand the law against a Murtad. I once asked a sheikh (mulla) and he replied with an answer I didn?t like. He said what if a person from one military force go and joins an other country military force? He said they (the army) will kill him because he has secrets of the military. I respected the sheikh and didn?t say anything to him. But I told myself what are we hiding from other people? Is there something to hide? Then I asked another sheikh and he said he might bring harm to Islam so he should be put to death. I also respected him and went away without saying a thing. But in reality aren?t we bringing more harm to Islam by killing him? I mean what will other people (non Muslims) say if the see this act? In Sora Fusilat 41:33 says ?Who is better in speech than a person who makes Du-aa to Allah and do Righteousness and say he is among who is a Muslim?. So we should do righteousness. But like I said, if the prophet ordered us or the Quran ordered us to put ?death? to the murtad then of course I have no rejection.Third one is, what does ?what your right hand possess? really mean? I asked a sheikh and he told me slave girls that we can have sex with. I really don?t believe in that and certainly I know my religion don?t support slave girls. Although it is mentioned in the Bible in the old and new testament. Like in Deuteronomy 20:10-15, Exodus 21:20-21, 1 Peter 2:18 and so on. It can be found about what your right hand possess in Soora Al Nesaa 4:3-24-25-36 and Sora Al Nahhel 16:71 and Sora Al muumenoon 23 and finally in Soora Al Noor 24:31. And in Sora Al Noor it talks about what does ?women? right hands possess so I don?t think it?s slave or slave meant for sex. Because slavery is ONLY for Allah. We are Abd Allah (meaning slave of Allah). Also in Sora Aal-umran 3:64 says we should not take among ourselves Lords except Allah. And slave means someone is your Lord/Master/Controller. Or according to www.dictionary.com slave means ?a person who is the property of and wholly subject to another; a bond servant?. And also in Sora Yaa-Seen 26:61 Allah said to us (Banee Adam-Children of Adam) to only worship Him. Also in Sorat Huud 11:26 Allah say to only have him as our Lord and also in many many other verses. So can you please explain to me what does ?what my right hand possess??Third question is, how did Kuffr came into being? Adam and Eve taught their children about Allah without a doubt. Then their children also did the same, and so on. So the question is, how did not believing in Allah came in the first place?Forth, there are people who say that Allah is a pagan moon god for the old Arabs. I know this is 100% false but what is logical reason to argue. In sora 41:37 it clearly says not to worship the sun and the moon but worship Allah. I have used this argument but it isn?t effective against them. How can I convince them logically?Fifth, Allah said in Sora al-nisa 4:82 that there is not contradiction in the Quran and if there is, then it?s not from Allah. The following verses ?seems? opposed to each other but I know there should be an explanation for it. For example, in Sora albaqara 2:253 says we prefer some prophets over others and in 2:285 says we don?t prefer one prophet over another. Also in 6:34 and 15:9 and 18:27 and 6:115 and 10:64 says the word of God cannot be changed. But in 2:79 implies that the word of God can be changed. Furthermore, in 2:106 and 16:101 Allah himself says some verses are changed and deleted. Also 19:16-19 says only one angel spoke to Mary but in 3:42-45 says more than one. Also in 7:27 says Allah chooses the Shaitan to be with humans but in 7:30 says people make the Shaitan their ?Awle-yaA?. Also was Pharaon Drowen or saved? In 43:55 says he drowned and in 10:90-92 says he was saved by his body. Also will the Jews and Christains go to hell or heaven? In 3:85 says anyone who is not a muslim will go to hell and in 5:72-73 also says they will go to hell, but in 2:62 and 5:69 says they will go to heaven. Also in how many days Allah created the heavens and the earth? In 7:54, 10:3, and so on says six days. But in 41:9-12 says eight days. Finally, how was the Human created? In 25:54 and 24:45 says water. A clot in 96:1-2. A clay/mud in 15:26, 32:7, 38:71. From sand/dust in 30:20, and 35:11. There are more but I want to answer (explanation) to these if you please.I have few more but I will only ask this last question. This one IS THE most important one and I really really need an answer to it please. I want an honest answer please. The question is simple, has the Quran been tampered (changed, edited, played) with? For example, in Sora Al-Fateha 1 some scholars says that the besmellah al rahman al raheem is the first verse of the Sora and other don?t agree. I mean how did verses came to form in the first place? If when the revelation was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and at that time the Basmalah was a verse, then why are we changing this? Second, if you follow this link please (From your own site) http://www.islamonline.net/servlet/Satellite?pagename=IslamOnline-English-Ask_Scholar/FatwaE/FatwaE&cid=1119503545902 you will see that there are some verses (according to islamonline scholars) from the Quran were abrogated (meaning taken away from the original revelation). Like the verse (also according to your site) ?A married man and woman, if they commit adultery, stone them to death.?. I really am NOT understanding this. Is there any proof for this? Also in that very site you people also say there is a Wisdom in doing so. What are these wisdom? I really don?t know why Islamic people are doing this? Are they ashamed from the words of Allah The Almighty or there are verse they don?t want us (normal Muslims) to read? Also in that site you people say In another narration, `Umar added: ?By the One in Whose hands is my soul, had it not been that people would say: ?`Umar added to the Book of Allah, I would have reinserted it. It (the verse) read: ?A married man and woman, if they commit adultery, stone them to death. This is a punishment from Allah. Allah is Almighty and Wise.? Why did people remove the verse?!?! Is there a proof for the verse if it really exist? Why are they playing and tampering with Allah?s word (according to islamonline?or I misunderstood it?)? When did this happen? Is there not the original Quran to copy from in the first place? Yes there is, but why the removing and adding. I really don?t like the idea to go the way the people of the book (Jews and Christians) went. I don?t know what they mean but is there explanation? The first link also says that the last two verses from Soora 9 (al tawbah) are false (128 and 129). They also say that the last two Sora are actually only Du-aaA and not really the word of God. Is this what the Shiates say? Because I am a Sunni. This all came on me at once and I don?t know how to react.Didn?t Allah said in his Holy Quran ??We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (fro m corruption)?? (15:9 from Sora Al-Hijr). So Allah The Almighty is the God of the heavens of earth and everything in between them. He said he will guard the Quran himself and we all know God cannot be mistaken (he is perfect), but if anything did a mistake, anything/anyone, then he is not God. Am I true? Allah said in Sora Al Bakara 2:79 YUSUFALI: Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say:"This is from Allah," to traffic with it for miserable price!- Woe to them for what their hands do write, and for the gain they make thereby. Asalam alaikum,I have a question regarding Muslim ladies and gentleman who greet each other and they are non-mahrem to each other - Are they allowed to respond with salams?I am a revert and I remember in the begining of my reversion I was sooo excited to see another muslim I would have a big smile and say asalam alaikum! I think I probably scared some brothers & sisters!!Just the other day a brother saw me walking down the street with my son and was so estatic to see another muslim and screamed his salams to us across the street. I was in a city that it is rare to see Muslims in proper hijab. Most blend in with unbelievers. I didn't respond because I would have had to scream it back and I felt it was fitting for a Muslim women to do so, but at the same time I remember that it is obligatory to give a greeting back, but wasn't sure if it allowed for women to respond to men because my husband had said no your not allowed, so I found myself confused. I also remembered myself when I first reverted and when someone wouldn't respond I would just feel horrible and isolated.So please with the help and guidance of Allah (swt) spread the true light on this situation.
