Woman’s Choice of a Husband Against the Consent of Her Family

Dear scholar, I love a girl who is 19 yrs old, I m 26 yrs old. She is from Pakistan but lives in London, I live in India. We both love each other from the deep of our heart. But her parents don?t want me. Without knowing anything about me they said no. Now they have fixed her marriage to her cousin, after doing all they asked her for her consent, so that she couldn?t say no. She tried to say no but then they threatened her saying if she wants to marry of her own choice (to me) she has to leave them forever and also said that if something happens to them she will be responsible. Just for the sake of her parent?s happiness and social status and reputation she agreed and said yes at that time. But she is not happy with this relation as she loves me a lot. But she can?t say anything to her parents as well, as she is worried about their reputation and social status, that there will be an insult for them. I want to know if she marries in this condition, will it be legal and lawful as her parents emotionally blackmailed her at the same time she says that she wont be happy ever and she wont be able to forget me. And she says that she wont be able to accept her cousin as husband as she sees him as his brother always. What alternate way is there so that she can convey her wish to their parents? If she marries, I won?t marry anyone ever, I love her madly, may be I?ll die. As I have accepted her as my wife keeping Allah as witness. Please help. I?ll be very grateful to you. Thank you.

Does the Qur’an Teach Hostility Against Non-Muslims?

Dear Scholars,Assalamu ?alaykum,The Jews and Christians are called kufaar in the Holy Qur?an because of some of their beliefs and actions. However, the way some scholars and writers frequently use the word nowadays connotes hatred, hostility and killing of innocent Christians. In some countries, whenever there is a misunderstanding between Muslims and Christians, Christians will be killed and there churches will be burnt or destroyed and the Christians usually retaliate inflicting higher casualty on the Muslims. Some of us think that we Muslims should respect the places of worship of the Jews and the Christians and their life even though they are kufaar. Some people have called our attention to some comments of some of our respected Scholars; for example:1. Sheikh Ibn Taimiyah was reported to have said: "[The following is] a disbeliever: Whoever believes that churches are the houses of Allah in which He is worshipped or who thinks that what the Jews and Christians do are valid acts of worship of Allah and obedience to Him and His Messenger, or loves or approves of what they do, or aids them in having such places and establishing their religion, and he does so thinking that is a way of getting closer to Allah or worshipping Allah."But we read in the Holy Qur?an: "(They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right (for no cause) except that they say "Our Lord is Allah. "Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another there would surely have been pulled down monasteries churches synagogues and mosques in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid His (cause); for verily Allah is Full of Strength Exalted in Might (Able to enforce His Will)" Q22:40.Some of us think that ?Whoever believes that churches are the houses of Allah in which He is worshipped? may be responsible for the burning and destruction of Churches whenever there are misunderstanding between Muslims and Christians in some countries. Are there any instances in the past (during the time of the salaf) when Muslims destroyed the places of worship of the Jews and Christians when they conquered their lands? Please explain the meaning of the statement in relation to the verse.2. Some Muslims think fighting and killing non-Muslims is allowed because Allah says: ?Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth [i.e. Islam] from those who were given the Scripture ? [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.? Q9:29.What should be our understanding of the above verse now that the Muslim countries are weak and Islam has spread all over the world and Muslims are the minority in many Non-Muslim countries? Are Al-Qaeda members and their supporters following verse Q9:29? Is there any Muslim country nowadays where jizyah is collected from non-Muslims? If no, why?May Allah reward you abundantly for your answers.

Da`wah: An Obligation?

Asalamu alakum.I am asking in the context of India where Mushriks are majority. Why Scholars interprit Dawa as Fard Kifa?Verse is3:104which says a group among Muslims should do duty.But3:110says everyone has to do duty, means Fard Ain.Now 9:71 also says everyone including women not some.So3:104maybe interpreted wrong as Scholars can make mistake,as it becomes a contradiction when at 2 places says everyone has to do & one place say only some has to do.Some Scholars did interprit 3:104 as ?by you?instead of ?from amongst you?.Tafseers also say3:104 was revealed in Medina after establisment of Islamic state when duties where divided to groups to do Dawa, establish prayer,Zakat collection, civil, defence etc. Then there is no contradiction.Mecca is similair to India though not 100%.Who can deny that if any Sahaba did not do dawa to Mushriks?infact for 13 years? It was In Medina duty divided. Some say we need ilm & then nobody does dawa giving excuse we have no ilm.All we have to say is about Allah,Prophets/Quran &its Message /Hereafter.Did Siddique,Umar,Ali have deep ilm initially?Definitely we must learn (12:108) but also do Dawa as when we converse to Mushriks we are encouraged to learn more to make Islam superior. We recite Iklas everyday.Proclaim He Is one,He has no son. Muslim believes so.Mushriks are idol worshippers believing in more than one god and Christians believe Jesus(peace be on him)as son of God.We are surrounded by these Mushriks..Is this only 4 recitation or also 4 preaching?Islam is not mere theories. Many recite Surah Kahf on Friday but Verse 4 says Quran revealed to warn those whosay Allah has son.Who warns?but a few?Has time andCan learn about Fiqh matters&how to defeat all Muslim groups except his own which is only correct as in 30:32&create enemity, but no Dawa as it is Kifaya & support of Scholars so the excuse of no ilm & thus escapes responsibility.Enemies are smiling.Dear Scholars.Help.Was Salam.

Does the Term Unbelievers Include the People of the Book?

Dear Scholars and all sisters/brothers, Assalamu alaykum.all Scholars agree there is no way to justify the marriage of a Muslim woman with a non-Muslim man even if the woman works and provides for herself and the husband lets her practice her faith in every aspect of her life. According to the Qur?an: "Nor marry (your girls) to unbelievers/idolaters until they believe: A man slave who believes is better than an unbeliever/idolater, even though he allures you. Unbelievers do (but) beckon you to the Fire. But Allah beckons by His Grace to the Garden (of bliss) and forgiveness, and makes His Signs clear to mankind: That they may celebrate His praise" (Al-Baqarah 2: 221). But does this verse include the People of the Book as well? It is still not clear to me if the term ?unbeliever? includes the People of the Book as it looks like in other verses there is a clear distinction. Can you please shed light on this? Also, Scholars agree a married woman that converts to Islam should leave her husband if he doesn?t convert too (even if they have kids and the husband lets her practice her faith). To me it is not clear why Allah would like a family to break up like this. Am I a sinner if I don?t agree with the Scholars especially because the Quran doesn?t mention the case of a convert? Please note I?m married to a Muslim man. I?m a convert to Islam, alhamdulilah, and although I accepted the Quran, it?s still hard to me to accept ALL Scholars? point of views: I know they are respectable Muslims that have been studying Islam all their life but they are human beings like me that can make mistakes and cannot be sure about the TRUE and UNIQUE interpretation of Allah (SWT)?s words.  Jazakum Allah khairan.

Congregational Prayer and Raising Hands in Prayer

As-Salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu. Dear Brother, I am a practising muslim living in Bangladesh. I am 19 years old. Alhamdulillah recenly i started growing my beard. I didn't know that it is prohibited for a muslim man to shave his beard. After reading ?Sifatu Salat-n-Nabee (saws): The Prophet's Prayer (saws) From the Beginning to the End, as though you see it? and the book named ?The Description of the Prophet's Prayer By Abdulaziz Bin Baaz? I found out that in our country people are used to pray in a different way. I mean they only raise there hand upto the ear at the beginning of the prayer I mean the Hanafi Style. Now as I am praying according to the Quran and the Sahih Hadeeth do I need to attend the congregational prayer 5 times a day because people in our country are full of misconception, innovation and superstition and they think I am praying like the followers of Mirza Ghulam Kadiyani. According to many people in our country the Ahmadiyyas raise their hands inside the prayer. They look at me angrily like as if I have done a great sin because I don?t pray like them. I used to wipe my neck while performing ablution but now I don?t. When I asked the Imaam of our mosque about raising the hand at the beginning of the prayer, before bowing while saying Allahu-Akbar, while standing from bowing and after standing from finshing the second tashahud. He said the prophet used to do it sometimes so it is not necessary to do it in every prayer. That is why I don?t like to attend the congregational prayer in the mosque except for the Friday prayer. Am I doing something wrong by praying at home because of the above mentioned reasons?
