Dr. Sano Koutoub Moustapha, deputy chairman of the International Fiqh Academy and professor of fiqh and its principles at the International Islamic University, Malaysia, states: “Islam stands for mutual love and kindness among Muslims and all mankind. It also stands for helping and assisting one another. However, Islam rejects any thing harmful or bring harm or hardship.
In this context, the legality and illegality of donating one’s hair for those who are suffering from cancer in order to help them to make a wig will depend on the consequences of donating at the health of a donor. In other words, if donating will lead to bring any harm or hardship to the donor then he or she should not do so, but if it doesn’t harm him or her, then it is permissible to donate to those who are suffering from cancer. This rule is based on the verses: 5:2. which basically calls upon all mankind to cooperate and help each other.”
