The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “As far as Islamic Shari`ah is concerned, there is nothing wrong for a couple to use the toilet in front of each other without closing the door. They are also allowed to take a bath together or for one of them to take a bath without closing the door of the bath room as long as only the husband and the wife are there in the flat. However, it is also OK to close the door of the bath room out of shyness.”
