Assalam-o-Alaikum, Could you please tell me under what circumstances it is permissible for a Muslim to settle and reside permanently in a non-Muslim country for economic reasons? By kwoningly the life of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) and his companions, if they can live on little so do we.Most of the migrants in these days left their country purely for economic reasons and take asylum in europe or other western countries on humanitarian and political grounds by making fake cases, they know author ities will never accept their cases on economic reasons. Telling lies is not good but what else one can do if he/she have to support his/her family?I would be grateful if the answer was supported by evidence from the Holy Qur'an, the Sunnah, and the statements of scholars and individuals of knowledge. assalamualikum is it permissible to buy from online auctions that end on a specific time, and when the seller is allowed to put a reserve price (that he is not obliged to sell his item unless it is reached), but he did not and the price of sale that is reached at the end of the auction is less than the market value, what about buying from auctions when a bank or other authority by a court order sell in an auction the property of an indivdual who is unable to pay his debts , again the price may be less than the market value

Respected scholars, As-salamu `alaykum.I have a question concerning meditation. Sometimes when I get very stressed I like to meditate to calm myself down. Basically, all I do is some breathing exercises that come from Buddhist techniques. Do you find anything wrong with doing these exercises as it comes from Buddhism? Me & my husband were watching TV,on one of the  channels that we watch they?ve showed some pictures of the Prophet in one of the usual every day?s evening ?News? program, telling people of the late events that are taking place now and about the source of the anger of all the Muslims. My husband who in the beginning of all this issue, tried to switch on to another channel whenever on any channel were any reports concerning it all, so that he might not accidentally hear or see anything bad. Then later he started to listen the news, the programs, the discussions on this subject ( avoiding to see any pictures) in order to know what anyone does or think about it, whoever it might be. He tolled me that we shouldn?t watch this channel anymore for what it did, whatever their cause was. The next day I tolled him that we should write a protest to the administration of this channel and maybe to the President?s administration also and I did so.In the evening news on the same channel, that my husband let me watch for 15-20 min and being upset at me for this, it was said that whoever will deal in anything concerning the pictures, the penalty will be very harsh even to take away the licenses, but the apology were not been said, as I  hoped.Till now I don?t know if the apology have been said or not, for more then a month we are still not watching this channel and once not intentionally I put it on, my husband was again angry with me for it. Is his position on this issue being the correct one or  is he being rigid, as I think sometimes he does on other things or occasions?Thank you.

I am pregnant and my non-Muslim co-workers want to throw a baby shower for me, but I have declined their thoughtful suggestion. However, I would like to know if after the baby is born, would it be permissible to have a gathering with my co-workers to introduce the newborn to them which would of course, include food and gifts? I have a small question. One of my friends was asking me if it is possible to draw the prophet's companions, such as Khaled ibn el waleed? Is there a ruling to prevent depicting any of the prophet's companions in the form of drawing?

AA,I read in ?Mashqwat Shrif  ? Sahi Bukhari?  that prayer is f orbidden for the some periods of times during a day like when the sun is rising or setting down and also after performing Asr prayer till the sun sets down. My question is:  Let say I am reciting Quran Shrif after performing Asr prayer and came across the ?Ayateh- Sajda?. So am I allowed to do the ?Sajda? at this time or should I wait till the sun sets down. My second question: Listening to Quran Shrif while driving a car and I came across the ?Ayateh-Sajda?. So for this situation what time should I do the ?Sajda? I heard from some one that the ?physical Sajda? is not necessary because one can say the ?Pray (D?ua) of Sajda? verbally instead, can you please tell me if it is true or not? And if it is okay then which Fiqh is practicing this as I am following Hanafi Fiqh. Since two years, my husband and I, we have stopped all interest transactions of every kind, whether bank or mutual fund or whatever and deal only with Sharia-based institutions. We have, of course, made tauba for our previous sins in this regard. Is there anything-else required of us to do to make full amends for our sins so that Allah forgives us completely and the Day of Judgment we are free from this major sin. Thank you for your reply

asalam-u-alaikum, i signed my marriage contract (nikah) in summer 2007. i have read many fatwas posted, though all gave me a good understanding but i still need more answer, a bit more specific to me. my wife is a cousin of mine who i have secretly loved (never mentioned to anyone simply prayed to allah that i may marry her someday and that someday finally came) her mother passed away when she was only about 9 or 10 years of age and i felt a lot of pain for her as she would be deprived of a mothers love. after signing the contract we quickly connected as i told her my feelings for her. and i began day by day to carress her more and more to show her my affection, but not goingto the extent of any serious intimacy. my roots are in pakistan and i currently reside in canada studyingengineering, its a culture thing that husband is not to consumate before the marriage ceremony (different from the walimah) although my parents never intervened if we spent time together alone. i told this so you can possibly better understand my questions.now that im back in canada, my wife still in pakistan, we talk over the phone and via the internet, we listen toeach others harships confort each other along the way and show affection for each other everytime. we also indulge in cyber sex and/or phone sex, is this allowed for me and my wife? and i will admit it does relax me when im tenseand vice versa and really helps me guard my gaze. also ive read the fatwa that only 4 months of separation isallowed from one's wife, is this true even if i have not yet consumated?also sometimes she tells me that she really needs me, like be with her, and i feel really bad and useless that i can't satisfy that need of hers. and the same thing goes for me somtimes i feel really alone, somtimes i can'teat properly, sleep is disrupted, i even cry sometimes while reciting surah Ya'sin. i know i have to be patient, but its getting harder n harder im begining to doubt that my prayers are not being accepted because of my own fault. what can i do? also is it ok for me to fantasize about my wife ( ie intimate fantasies)?also, what is the ruling on enlargment remedies for the private parts? one thing how short ca the beard be? my wife asks me shorten it. please provide me answers with as much detail as possible. thank you for listening, may allah bless you and helpeveryone attain jannah. ameen.

Assalam o alaikum respected scholar.  I have a question regarding Islamic dress for women.  I am from the United States but we will be moving to Pakistan within the year.  When going outside of our home, the women wear burka, and cover their faces as well.  This is very difficult for me because they are hot, uncomfortable, and hard to move around in.  I always thought that the Holy Koran said one must be modest and cover our heads as well as modest in dress when going outside of the home.  Is covering the face a preference or a necessity according to Islam or is it mainly a societal dress in the Northern areas of Pakistan?  I thank you in advance and I anxiously await your reply.

AsSalamualaykum, I was wondering how to contact the shieks, to get advice/ruling on the wearing of shoes which have been made with elements of the pig, whether its the leather or the lining or even the stitching with materials from the pig. as many shoes and trainers in the UK are made with this and its difficult to find out the materials used for the shoes as most people that sell these are not the makers and just sell them. It can also be quite difficult asking these people as they do not want to give the information on their products. Assalam-o-Alaikum, My question is about salat actually there are two. 1)When you get up from the ruku is it 'Rabbana-wa-lakalhamd" or "Rabbana lakalhamd". The reason for asking this question is that I have seen both in different instruction manuels. 2)Is it necessary to say the surahs during rakahs in the order the appear in the quran and without repetition or one is allowed to repeat surahs. For example if one has recited kawsar and ikhlas in fard can they be repeated in sunnah or not?

As SalamualaikumMy question is, my brother speaks to me and to almost all the women in my family, , two other sisters, sister in law, cousins, etc,  in a very harsh manner. He talks down to us , yet he practices islam and he is a fairly good muslim. But he thinks men are a degree above women so much so that he talks so harshly to us. Is this appropriate behavior? In Pakistan, boys are favored more than girls, is this alright in Islam also? Him being a man, does it make him right always and give him the authority to do this to me? I am married with kids, yet he speaks to me as if I were a street girl. He literally "orders" us around or thinks he knows everything. Isnt there anything in Islam that says be kind to your sisters?

Assalamualaikum, hope you would be so kind to answer my question regarding gambling. Is it consider as gambling if the material being bet upon has no monetary value, eg. money, land etc.? For example, a poker game between friends where poker chips are being use just for the sake of knowing who won the game  after the game has ended and give no real gains or losses to the players. Dear Scholars:as-salamu ?alaykum!nowadays, it is not unusual in a poultry dressing plants (animal slaughter houses) where thousands of chickens are being slaughtered hourly. Is mechanical slaughtering of chicken allowed and Halal in Islam in this case? The following hereunder is clear proof that mechanical slaughtering of animal is being undertaken as in the case of ISLAMIC CO-ORDINATING COUNCIL OF VICTORIA PTY. LTD., AUSTRALIA, to wit: Guideline for Mechanical Slaughtering of Chicken ? The person handling the chicken and the operator of the machine should be Muslim appointed by ICCV. ? The operator must recite the prayer prior to switching the mechanical knife. ? Should the slaughter man leave the slaughter area, he will be replaced by another Muslim slaughter man. The former will stop the line and switch off the mechanical knife. To restart the operation the second slaughter man must recite the prayer as described above, before switching on the mechanical knife and the line. ? The knife used should be of a single blade type and must be sharp. ? The trachea, oesophagus, and major blood bevels in the neck region (jugular and carotid) of the bird must be severed allowing proper bleeding. ? To have the birds facing the mechanical knife, slaughtering the bird at the back of the head is not permitted. ? The slaughter man is required to check that each bird is properly slaughtered. ? Assistant slaughter man should slaughter manually any birds that miss the mechanical knife. ? The scalding (defeathering) tank should be at a reasonable distance from the slaughtering area thus ensuring that the bird has no life prior to entering the hot water tank. ? The temperature of the water should not exceed 52 degrees Celsius. ? Halal logo / stamp should be at all time under the control of ICCV personnel. ? Halal transfer certificate should be issued for every single Halal load out.the details of slaughterers, supervision, contamination, processing, storage, Halal identification, certification are as if beef / sheep manual (ICCV Halal / Food Manual). Where I live, all people play music during their wedding.  I is customary that music is played and the women (who are completely separate from the men) dance and cheer for the bride.  Even the religious people here play music during the wedding.  Also, the Muslims where I live refuse to dance to Nasheed.I do not listen to music because I heard it was haraam, but would it be permissible to play music just on the wedding reception?  I know my wife's family could not imagine having a wedding celebration without some music.

The Qur'an says that a woman is like a field for you, so go to them in every way you like. Does that mean that the woman is an object for the man, and that the woman is only there for the man to have intercourse and fun with? Why is the woman a field for the man? Why does the Qur'an most of the time speak to men and not to women as well?

Assalam-o-Alaikum I am a born Muslim fortunately but my problem is that I see so many sectc in Muslims and I wish to find the right one. I try to understand Quran but I am amazaed when I find some laws in Sharia which are contradictory to Quran's orders. I will put one example hereWhen Quran tells us the punishment for "Zina", it does not diffferentiate among sinners. No distinction is made among married or unmarried "zaani/zaaniah" and the punishment is stated as lashes.In our present sharia however it is believed that this punishment is only for unmarried sinners and for married sinners it is stone to death. The basis of this discremination is from the book of Hadith.My problem is that I believe that Quran is the only 100% authentic set of rules from Allah. Whtever else is, it is not sure that it has reached us as it was original. Even contents of books of Hadiths are not 100% sure as no one including Allah, Rasoolullah or the compilers of books claim those to be 100% sure.Definitely whatever is from Rasool, it is to be followed but after it is pro ved to be 100% sure from Rasool. For me it is difficult to believe that Rasoolullah made this ammendment in the punishment for Zina. If he would have done, he must have made arrangement for the documentation of any such ammendment. But as I know, this was not recorded till the compilation of Hadith books. Such an important matter, an extension or ammendment in the order of Allah's words, if from Allah or Rasool (of coure Rasool did not do anythinng himself rather he obeyed Allah), why it has not been recorded by Rasool, Khulafa-e-Rashideen or any responsible person but only by a scholar after more than two centuries.Can any scholar/alim please answer my confusion? May Allah lead me to His true way and the real Islam.Regards

As Salam alaykum. As i am a student living in the UK, we study english language and english literature. A part of our english qualification is a study on the famous american book 'The Catcher in the Rye'. This book contains many sexual, alcoholic and other bad references in the book. In order to achieve a good grade and understanding of the book, i need to study it carefully. Am i allowed to this in this circumstance or is it haram, and it is too late to change book study now.Thank you.Another thing, is that i really want to learn how to pray exactly like the prophet (SAWS), including the sunnah actions. As salamu alaykum!I don't know what to do anymore. I know that after urinating a muslim man should wait for a few minutes, then wipe his penis or wash it and then he should sprinkle some water on his underwear in order to ward off waswas.I try do do the same, but it is in vain. After urinating I can wait for 10 or even 15 minutes and no more than a few drops of urine would leak, the rest of the urine does not leak (I'm sure of it, it is not just waswas), but if I squeeze my penis more drops of urine (8-9 drops, it depends on how many times and how hard I squeeze it) come out. After urinating if I wait a few minutes and then I squeeze well my penis 8-9 times no urine comes out afterwards.The big problem is that I am frustrated because I heard that some muslim scholars consider the squeezing of the penis bid'a (ibn Taimyya for example). A brother of mine told me that there are scholars who have nothing against this practice (imam Malik for example).My question is: Is the squeezing of the penis after urinating bid'a or not? Please tell me what to do if it is indeed bid'a! And if it is allowed how many times are we allow to squeeze the penis? Do we have to squeeze it hard or gently?I would like to mention that I converted to islam a few years ago and I am not circumcised. I want to do this step also, but for the moment my personal status does not allow me to circumcise.Moreover I was searching for fatwas on the Internet about this problem of mine and those who asked about this were advised to wait more after urinating, even 15 minutes if necessarily, maybe this works if the person with this kind of problem lives in a muslim country, but unfortunately I live in a christian country and I cannot wait that much every time I go to the toilet cause I'll have problems at school/work.

Can i get rid of bank interest through charities such as Oxfam? Regarding bank interest, You state that this money can be donated to charities (Poor) or for public projects. I for example get rid of my money through charities such as Oxfam. My intention is that this is Interest and unlawful for me, i always get a monthly statement of my bank balance and then get rid of the interest. Is this ok for me. Some say to me i am not allowed to donate this to the poor or muslim charities since its unlawful and must be used for road maintenance etc. I cant find any organisation in the uk carrying out public projects so i chose Oxfam to get rid of this. Is this ok for me to do. I have put the effort to prevent interest coming into this account and it has so far failed, I will inshallah move to a islamic bank account. In the meantime is what i am doing accepted in islam, especially that many of us face many hardships living in a non muslim country.

as-salaamWhat are the conditions for women working in the Tourism Industry. They come in contact with the opposite sex quite often.They even have to travel abroad for business and related stuff. My sister has a good aptitude about this industry and wants to contribute but is afraid of wor king because she feels she?ll have to transgress her Islamic values. She questions as to how can she contribute to her religion by working in such an environment. Though she's very wary of what she does.She argues that this wont help her ummah in any way!!! Is it? The hospitality and tourism industry is important for any economy.The hospitality industry is not filth free and so she?s afraid she?ll indirectly contribute to it. We?re sending our people to global areas and they have to stay and rest in some place which is not Islamic! But how can we help it? Muslims all over are employed in this sphere.

Assalamoalaikum,there is this hadith that states that one who prays for showing off has committed shirk, now apparently this applies to all forms of worship. There are people who act all nice to others for the sake of getting something from them or to misguide them or to lie about their abilities.Since acting nice to others is also a form of worship, i wanted to know that such decieving of people lie in the same category of shirk?

Title:  Can a Muslim man marry a Muslim woman who had a child through illicit affairs?A Muslim woman had a child when she was 15.  She married the child's father 6 months into her pregnancy.  The child was born into the world after the Muslim girl and the child's father were married.  14 yrs later, the Muslim girl and the father of the child got a divorce.  What are the rules in islam about a Muslim man marrying a Muslim woman who became pregnant prior to marriage?  Local social customs say that marrying such a woman will bring trouble for the family for 7 generations.  Is this social custom at all islamic?

is it permissable to buy stocks in the US stock market nowadays and we know that they are managing war against US. and is it permissable to buy stocks in companies deals with conventional banks either deposit or credit ?

I wanted to ask about the permissibility of writing a will in the case where it may go against the rules in the quran. The situation i have in mind is that my Sister and her husband who have a one year old son, would like to write in their will that if anything were to happen to both of them then they want myself and my husband to look after him.  This is because they feel that we would be best able to take care of their son and bring him up in an islamic way etc.  We would be happy to do so in such a situation. Is this permissible?

I have been an immigrant for many years. I have decided to return back to my home country and settle there. Salam alaikom,What is the ruling concerning someone who often sleeps by day and stays awake at night, and prays all the prayers he missed during the day in the evening when he wakes up?  He cites the hadith that when someone forgets a prayer or misses a prayer due to sleep, all one needs to do is to make it up when he wakes up.  On the other hand, I have been told that it is a very serious thing to do "jama'a el salawat', or to postpone and combine prayers.  I have been told that it is a path to doing kaba'ir.  What is the correct Islamic view? If this truly is haram, I would like to know the ahadith to back that up when I advise my friend.  If it is not and I am misinformed, then I would also like to know.  I am deeply concerned that my friend may inadvertantly be doing something wrong.
