Sheikh `Abdul-Majeed Subh, a prominent Azharite scholar, states: “This is a wrong habit which is waking up at night while sleeping the day especially in Ramadan. We read in an authentic hadith that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prevented entertainment at night. In one of these narrations, it was reported that he said that there should be no sleeping before `Ishaa’ and no amusement after it. The reason for that was helping Muslims to make night vigil prayers.

Moreover, modern science has proved that early sleeping in the evening is one of the reasons of keeping good health. Modern science has proved that mostly all parts of the body benefit from early sleeping at the night. So, the habit of waking up at night [without acceptable reason] deprives the body of many benefits.

Furthermore, Almighty Allah tells us that He has created the night for sleep and the day for seeking Allah’s sustenance and work. So, what is the case of a person who reverses one of Allah’s cosmic signs and then this results in neglecting acts of worship and missing prayers. Some may ask about the ruling of combing prayers while he could not wake up due to staying up at night [for no acceptable reason]. This is a corrupt intuition and is based on false basis.

So, we ask those who do this habit to fear Allah and reconsider their wrong and bad habits. If they do, they will gain a safe body and sound mind and correct act of worship. At that time, they will not ask about combining prayers.
