Wife Calling Her Husband a “Father”

Muslim spouses should love and respect each other, and a husband or wife should be keen on having fun within the limits of islamic Shari`ah. However, what your wife said to you does not affect your marriage — do not worry.

The eminent Muslim scholar and Da`iyah Sheikh `Abdul Khaliq Hassan Ash-Shareef, stated, There is nothing wrong with a wife calling her husband father or papa for fun or while fondling him with respect.

there is no relation between what your wife did and the Zihar, in which a husband tells his wife that she is just like his mother or sister — that is, forbidden in marriage. The act of Zihar is done by the husband, not the wife, and it necessitates a major expiation. So, there is nothing wrong with what your wife said.
