Yellowish Discharge & Woman’s Period

Assalamoalaikum, My period is normally 9 days long but sometimes very rarely it may be 8 days and even more rare than that 11 days,11 days has happened to me only in the last 2 ramadans. This year in june and july my period lasted for 8 days, then in august for 9 days . Now the problem is that of september. I think i saw clear discharge on the night of 8 day, and did ghusl and prayed but the next day in the morning i saw yellow-brown discharge. I took it to be waswaas, as i am effected by that alot, and prayed anyway, taking this discharge as istihaadah. However just before ramadan i did ghusl again to be on the safe side, all the while taking this to be waswaas. I think ramadan was three days after this. Then when i had menses in ramadan again, at the end of this month when i saw discharge again i thought i had made a mistake in deciding purity the previous month. So tell me what should i do? (1) Should i repeat the prayers for three days, because i did do ghusl before ramadan started to be on the safe side. And i dont really remember if it was a day before ramadan , i am taking it maximum to be three days before i did ghusl again? (2) OR should i take it as istihaadah because i think i did see a clear discharge and stop worrying about it? what if i see clear discharge on the 8th day and then again brown on 9th day, should i do ghusl again, beacuse normal period is 9 but rarely it may be 8 days. (3) OR since i am having doubts as to whether discharge was properly clear or not on 8th day, i should just offer the 15 prayers? If this is the case should i offer them in one session or one with every present prayer according to convenience? Please provide me with a proper fatwa, i am really worried about this and it has been too long now,i dont want to delay it any further. Jazak Allahu Khairan.

Sexual Intercourse with a Sleeping Wife

Is a man allowed to have sex with his wife while she is sleeping? Doesn’t Islam see this as a degradation of women? In Paradise, every deserving servant of Allah Subhana wa Ta’ala will be content. But what if I don’t want to share my husband in paradise with numerous other women, while he wants to have many many wives along with me in paradise? How will that conflict be solved? How will both the wife and the husband be content? Why will Allah remove the jealousy (of sharing one’s husband) in women’s hearts, but not the extreme lust (of having hundreds of wives) in men’s hearts? In other words, why doesn’t Allah remove the extreme lust of having numerous wives in men’s hearts in order to satisfy the female believers? Why is it that if a woman were married multiple times in the worldly life, she has to choose only ONE husband in Paradise?I also heard that if it is the desire of a woman to be married to multiple men in paradise (let’s say she had fallen in love with numerous men in the worldly life or she just has the desire of having many men servants—there are actually foreign cultures in which women have multiple husbands), then that wish will be granted to her since Paradise is all about being satisfied and fulfilling one’s desires. Is that true? Are there men created for the sole purpose of women’s sexual satisfaction in Paradise? It is not seen as degradation that women in paradise will be created for the sole purpose of men’s sexual satisfaction? These are just questions that plague the minds of many, if not all, women, and I hope I am not disrespecting Allah in any way (astaghfurAllah, may Allah Forgive me). I want to make it clear to the audience that this is not intended as an attack or a disrespect of Allah Subhaa wa Ta’ala and His beautiful religion Islam. I just desire to obtain full clear answers to every one of these questions if you have enough knowledge to provide answers, because I am aware that not everything Allah Subana wa Ta’ala wills is meant for us to understand while being in our current worldly bodies, and Allah the All-Knowing Knows Best.

Abu Hurairah: the Great Narrator of Hadith

Dearscholars,Assalamu alaikum. My question is about Abu Huraira (RA) the man of Hadith. We know that we are not supposed to tell bad things about Prophet's(PBUH) companions. But when collecting hadith shouldn't we do research on their personnal character? If the man's character is questionable then we should not take any hadith from him..as Hadith is a very important thing and missing of one single word or one wrong Haith can take us to Hell.Below I've found something about Abu Huraira(RA).My question is why scholars escape this part when take hadith from him?"The first man who was unkind to him was the second Caliph, Umar Bin Khattab. Ibn Athir and Ibn Abi'l-Hadid in his Sharhe-Nahju'l-Balagha, Volume III, page 104 (printed in Egypt), and several others have reported that after Caliph Umar appointed Abu Huraira governor of Bahrain in 21 A.H., the people informed the Caliph that Abu Huraira had amassed great wealth and had purchased many horses. Umar therefore deposed him in 23 A.H. As soon as Abu Huraira entered the court, the Caliph said: "O enemy of Allah and enemy of His Book! Have you stolen Allah's property?" He replied, "I never committed theft, but the people have given me gifts." Ibn Sa'ad in Tabaqat, Volume IV, page 90, Ibn Hajar Asqalani in Isaba, and Ibn Abd-e-Rabbih in Iqdu'l-Farid, Volume I, write that the Caliph said: "'When I made you the governor of Bahrain, you had not even shoes on your feet, but now I have heard that you have purchased horses for 1,600 dinars. How did you acquire this wealth?' He replied, 'These were men's gifts which profit has multiplied much.' The Caliph's face grew red with anger, and he lashed him so violently that his back bled. Then he ordered the 10,000 dinars which Abu Huraira had collected in Bahrain be taken from him and deposited in the account of the Baitu'-Mal."this was not the first time that Umar beat Abu Huraira. Muslim writes in his Sahih, Volume I, page 34, that during the time of the Prophet, Umar Bin Khattab beat Abu Huraira so severely that the latter fell down on the ground. Ibn Abi'l-Hadid writes in his commentary on Nahju'l-Balagha, Volume I, page 360: "Abu Ja'far Asqalani has said: 'According to our great men, Abu Huraira was a wicked fellow. The hadith narrated by him were not acceptable. Umar beat him with a lash and told him that he had changed hadith and had attributed false sayings to the Holy Prophet.'" Ibn Asakir in his Ta'rikh Kabir and Muttaqi in his Kanzu'l-Umma report that Caliph Umar lashed him, rebuked him, and forbade him to narrate hadith from the Holy Prophet. Umar said: "Because you narrate hadith in large numbers from the Holy Prophet, you are fit only for attributing lies to him. (That is, one expects a wicked man like you to utter only lies about the Holy Prophet.) So you must stop narrating hadith from the Prophet; otherwise, I will send you to the land of Dus." (A clan in Yemen, to which Abu Huraira belonged.) Ibn Abi'l-Hadid, in his commentary on Nahju'l-Balagha, Volume I, page 360 (printed in Egypt) reports from his teacher, Imam Abu Ja'far Asqalani, that Ali said, "Beware of the greatest liar among the people, Abu Huraira Dusi." Ibn Qutayba, in Ta'wil-e-Mukhtalifu'l-Hadith, and Hakim in Mustadrak, Volume III, and Dhahabi in Talkhisu'l-Mustadrak and Muslim in his Sahih, Volume II, reporting about the characteristics of Abu Huraira, all say that A'yesha repeatedly contradicted him and said, "Abu Huraira is a great liar who fabricates hadith and attributes them to the Holy Prophet." In short, it is not we alone who have rejected Abu Huraira. According to Caliph Umar, the Commander of the Faithful, Ali, Ummu'l-Mu'minin A'yesha, and other companions and followers of the Prophet said that he was completely unreliable. Accordingly, the Sheikhs of the Mu'tazilites and their Imams and the Hanafi ulema generally reject the hadith narrated by Abu Huraira. Moreover, in his commentary on Muslim's Sahih, Volume IV, Nadwi emphasizes this point: "Imam Abu Hanifa said, 'The companions of the Prophet were generally pious and just. I accept every hadith with evidence narrated by them, but I do not accept the hadith whose source is Abu Huraira, Anas Ibn Malik, or Samra Bin Jundab." We reject the same Abu Huraira, whom Caliph Umar lashed and called a thief and a liar. He was rejected by Ummu'l-Mu'minin A'yesha, Imam Abu Hanifa, and by many companions and followers of the Holy Prophet. We reject the same Abu Huraira who was rejected and called a liar by our master, the chief of the monotheists, Ali, and by the holy Imams and descendants of the Prophet. We reject Abu Huraira who was a belly-worshiper, who, despite knowing the superiority of Ali, ignored him. He preferred his patron, the damned Mu'awiya, sat at his table to relish dainty dishes, and concocted hadith in opposition to Ali. In view of our discussion so far, you and I are obliged to see to it that when a hadith from the holy Prophet is under consideration, we should first refer it to the Holy Qur'an. If the hadith agrees with the Qur'an, we should accept it, otherwise not."

The Qur’an and Science

Salam Alaikum,Thank you for this terrific service.  First, I want to make it very clear that I find the holy Quran to be very comprehensive, enlightening and a beautiful text.  I have one issue though, I have read many many text by prominent Moslem authors in regard to the Quran and Science.  My humble conclusion is that the issue of science is addressed briefly, generally and in simple, sometimes vague terms in the holy text.  I also understand the holy Quran is not meant to be a scientific paper. As an example of this vagueness, I refer to the statement concerning the establishment of the universe/earth in 6 days or 6 periods, which may mean up to 6 x 50,00 years.  Firstly, I cannot believe that the earth was produced in 6 days and I have trouble with 6 periods if a period may refer to 50,000 yrs or less.  I am an Earth Scientist and isotope-dating methods are very consistent and when it is related to geological systems it provides geological correlations that make perfect sense.  These dating methods indicate the earth is at least 4.6 billion years old.  Here is my question:Why the vagueness with Science, particularly with the example above? As stated in the holy text, I understand there are an enormous amount of things that only Allah knows, but why are we humans put through the distress of dealing with this conflict, for example, there are 3 possible answers to the age of the earth as per the paragraph above (6 days, 6 periods or at least 4.6 billion years), why are we placed in this state confusion without a definitive answer.  I cannot see how this can be any type of test for us humans.May Allah forgive me if I have wr itten anything that is inaccurate, ignorant or displeasing.

Islamic Zoology

Asalamualaikum,Scholars of Islam,I am a homeschooler in America. I love animals. With the free time, I have had an idea. I began to love history as I started on Muslim Civilization (Public school tried to keep me away from this) and became awe-inspired.So went I went to the bookstore and found nothing on Islamic Zoology. So I have decided to write my own book about Animals in Islam and their roles throughout its history: Muhammed (PBUH)?s time through the empires through the Ottoman?s end up to now. And now I have some questions that I could not find an answer to.-Muezza, Prophet Muhammed (PBUH)?s cat, is it true that he had a cat and that it saved his life?-Battles of the Islamic Empires won/lost due to animals on either side (Horses, Camels, Flaming Pigs [enemies? side?])-What are rules of hunting with ranged weaponry and what to do/how to let out blood if the animal is shot and killed with the bullet/arrow?-Muslims, did they invent animal experimentation, veterinary medicine, and contribute to zoology (Researched from Science in the Name of God by Dr. Kasem Khaleed and The Muslim Scientists by Muhammed Yasin Owadally)? If so, what was the greatness of the contributions?-Is animal welfare and rights an eastern or western concept?-Animal scientists and sciences in Islam-Evolution and Animal Similarities (Darwin?s finches): Is it a test for mankind to see if they believe in Allah or evolution?-What is the Islamic view on man-eating animals? For example, the Lions of Tsavo and the Tigers of India: Are they punishers of hypocrites? Sinners? This is what some Muslim Sumatrans believe.-Animals. Do they remind us of salaah? Birds chirp when Fajr is over. My cat becomes aggressive if I purposely do not /forget to pray and it is becoming late for salaah time. (Note: I have been testing this and have noticed my cat, during the night, when hungry doesn?t meow at 5 or 4 AM. He waits at my feet and at 6 AM, begins to hit me and meow to be fed. 6 AM is Fajr time.)-What is euthanasia and castration from an Islamic viewpoint?-Give animals Islamic names? I?ve heard of Lutifah the Prophet (PBUH)?s horse and Muezza the cat.-What are some benefits that Muslims have made for animals (welfare, armo r, medicine, etc.)?-Can we say salaam to animals?-May I quote your answers in my book?

Wife’s duty towards her family after marriage

Salaam,Does a womans duty to her family end or lessen after she gets married? My sister got married about 2 years ago. My family was excited at first, but now after two years the attitude is basically, ?She?s married now, we?ve lost her?.I?ve often noticed that when a conflict arises between a woman and her in-laws, the imam and scholars will often say that it is haram to make a man choose between his mother and wife. They will often stress the fact that it is the wife has a responsibility toward her in-laws. Why is the same advise not given to the man when he and his father-in-law are in conflict?I swear to god when I say this, but at 30 yrs old, I have never heard an imam or scholar say that a man must respect his wife?s family. In fact many men will verbally abuse their wife by cursing and insulting her family. They do this quite mercilessly. On the other hand if the wife were to say something, the results are often disastrous. In the case of a conflict between the husband and father, the woman is often told to side with the husband, effectively pitting one party against the other. Why is the woman never told to try to find a balance, like the man is told too. Is she no longer a daughter? To add to the insult the man is often told to ?relax? in this area so that his wife can see her family, as it is some sort of privilege that the husband may give his wife if she is ?obedient?.I know that it is a grave sin for a woman to insult her husbands parents and to break ties with them, but does this also apply to the husband and his wifes family? Is the sin of bad behavior toward the husbands family equivalent to the sin of bad behavior to the wife?s family? In other words is it worse to insult the husbands family than the wifes family? Does the bad behavior towards the wifes family even classify as a sin?I?ve often been told that we shouldn?t question Islam because we cannot question Allah. I hate to say this, but I cannot understand why this behavior is accepted. I tried to tolerate it at first but as of recently I cannot help but question.
