Zainab Al-`Alawani , Instructor of Fiqh and Islamic Studies, Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences, states the following: “The Qur’an and Sunnah do not specifically say that cooking and cleaning are part of women’s married or unmarried obligations. However, according to the marital concept of co-operation between all the members of the family, especially the husband and wife, the mother is highly recommended to learn how to cook and clean. This is part of the skills she can benefit from in her life.
