TV can now be considered as the most powerful means of media that has marvellously succeeded in invading almost every house on this planet. Effective, captivating and compelling as it is, it has unfortunately been widely used by evil magnates to disseminate vice and corruption and reshape minds. Thus, a Muslim should be on guard when selecting the material he or she likes to watch. On the other hand, Muslims should work diligently to provide shari`ah-compliant alternatives for TV audiences to protect Muslim societies from the destructive plans aiming at westernizing Muslims’ lifestyle.
Dr. Salah Al-Sawy, the Secretary General for the Assembly of Muslim Jurists in America (AMJA), stated: The basic principle is to look down to and abstain from watching these television programs because of the images of uncovered women, corrupt morals and depraved thinking they usually contain, unless one knows about a particular show that is free of such things, but that is rare these days. However, this does not mean that it is impossible for such a thing to exist.
Thus, we must provide our children with appropriate Islamic alternatives. Some Islamic media companies have already begun to offer some things in this regard, so we must hurry to provide them in order to protect our children from getting interested in following these contaminated programs. Indeed, our intention is for Allah and He is more exalted and more knowledgeable.
