The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explicitly warned his Ummah against exaggeration in praising him as the Christians did with Jesus (peace be upon him) and ended up worshipping him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the best of the Prophets and Messengers of Allah who are the best of of mankind; but still he is a human being.

Certain assertions such as; the universe came into existence because of the prophet etc., in praising the prophet as contained in some books are false statements that have no basis from the Qur’an or in the Sunnah. Thus, it is not permissible to believe in it.

However, it should be noted that there are authentic hadiths stating that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will be granted al-maqam al-mahmud or the station of honor on the Day of Resurrection. But what is meant by this al-maqam al-mahmud is his intercession for the whole humankind on this Day. This intercession means that he will intercede for all mankind when Allah delays the Reckoning and they will have been waiting for so long in the Place of Gathering on the Day of Resurrection. People’s distress and anxiety will reach a point they can no longer bear, and they will say, “Who will intercede for us before our Lord so that He will pass judgment amongst His slaves?” So the people will go to the Prophets, each of whom will say, “I am not able to do this,” until when they come to our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he will say, “I am entitled to do it, I am entitled to do it.” So he will intercede for them that judgment may be passed. There are many Hadiths which speak about this intercession in the authentic books of Hadith.

It is noteworthy that a Muslim should be cautious and selective when it comes to the sources from which he learns his religion. There are many deviant sects and heretical groups that are trying to spread their innovations and heresies.
