Firstly, there are Hadiths that have not been authentically referred to the Prophet (peace be upon him). There are also fabricated reports by those who exaggerate in love of Imam `Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and they claim that ‘Ali is in charge of rizq (sustenance). The content of these Hadiths do go against the established bases of the Qur’an and the Sunnah as regards the Oneness and Divinity of Allah. Allah alone is the only Lord Who is worthy of worship.

Allah stated in the Qur’an that His Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) is a human being who possesses for himself no harm or benefit. Allah said discussing him, ” Say: Lo! I control not hurt nor benefit for you.” (Al-Jinn, 21) Also, Allah says in the Qur’an establishing the humanness of the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him), “Say: I am only a mortal like you. My Lord inspireth in me that your Allah is only One Allah. And whoever hopeth for the meeting with his Lord, let him do righteous work, and make none sharer of the worship due unto his Lord.” (Al-Kahf, 110)

Moreover, Allah, the Lord of the worlds, does not authorize or entitle anybody with matters of Rizq. He, the Almighty, says in the Qur’an, “I created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me. I seek no livelihood from them, nor do I ask that they should feed Me. Lo! Allah! He it is that giveth livelihood, the Lord of unbreakable might.” (Al-Dhariyat, 56:58)

Accordingly, it is only Allah who controls people’s affairs, including life, death, Rizq (sustenance), destiny, etc. Neither `Ali nor Muhammed can do anything with this, because these matters are with Allah Who possesses boundless and infinite omnipotence, glory be to Him. We do earnestly advise you to give no attention to the false claims of those exaggerating people because they are totally unaccepted in Islam and be aware that the true followers of the Prophet Muhammed believe that `Ali is a companion of the Prophet just as other companions. Muslims believe that `Ali is not better than Abu Bakr or `Umar (may Allah be pleased with all of them) and that he is an ordinary human being, liable to err and right, subject to illness and possess nothing for others.

We recommend you to advise them of this and illustrate to them that `Ali is a human being who eats, drinks, sleeps, falls ill and dies. If `Ali is like what they said, then what would the world do after `Ali’s death, did Rizq stopped reaching people? This claim is completely wrong.
