A Muslim is required to fear Allah and not to set a bad example in his or her community. A Muslim is supposed to be positive, cooperative, and beneficial to the society he or she lives in.

Yes, this is permissible. Of course, the work should be done with full honesty. A translator is not an informant. It is wrong to be informant to any government because that implies spying on someone that is demeaning.
