A summarized response to this issue was given by the prominent Muslim scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal Nadvi as follows:
“…During engagement time, you are still bound to limitations with regard to your relationship with her, until the contract of marriage is done. So you are expected to observe those limitations when dealing with her.”
