First of all, we would like to stress that it is not permissible for a Muslim man to marry a non-Muslim other than chaste women from among the People of the Book (Jews and Christians) . This ruling is clearly established by decisive evidence from both the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

Moreover, the eminent Muslim scholar and renowned da`iyahSheikh `Abdel-Kh aliq Hasan Ash-Shareef states, Allah forbade the Muslim from marrying non-Muslim women other than chaste women from the people of the Book. It is not permissible for a Muslim to marry a non-Muslim woman except if she is a Christian or a Jew and she is chaste. Thus, it is not permissible to marry a Hindu woman. Allah says: (And do not marry al-Mushrikat (idolatresses, etc.) till they believe (worship Allah Alone) )(Al-Baqarah 2:221) The Prophet (PBUH) showed the main qualifications by which a woman would be chosen as a wife. He says: “A woman is married for four things: her wealth, her family status, her beauty, and her religion. So you should marry the religious woman; (otherwise) you will be a loser” (Al-Bukhari).
