Dr. MonzerKahf, a prominent economist and counselor, states: “Conventional TV programs have a mixture of permissible and non-permissible material. It really depends on which makes a majority to determine whether it is permissible or not to broadcast such programs in their totality. But even when we determine that it is not permissible to broadcast a package of programs, the prohibition shall cover only those persons that are directly involved in the operation but not those who work in periphery areas that are themselves permissible such as floor cleaners or machine operators. Your accounting job seems to me a technical well defined kind of work that has nothing to do with the broadcasting of good or bad programs and therefore it is permissible to take and its compensation, in terms of salary and benefits, is permissible too.
We must remember that this kind of job is not at par with working as an accountant in a print shop that only prints the Qur’an, for instance, is it? In other words, jobs certainly differ, in terms of good and bad, depending on what do they serve although we may be talking within the area of permissibility!
