Salaams,I have recently started my first job in London, after looking for a long time with quite a lot of difficulty. It's a client-driven company, and so there are always clients coming in and out. I have a few questions to do with my wudhu and another to do with my colleagues.Firstly, with few practicing Muslims, there is no prayer room. There is however a floor of meeting rooms, where I can book a room for 15mins, and read my Salah. I make wudhu in the bathroom/toilets, and my problem is I am not able to wash my feet. This is because of not having anywhere to put my wet feet as I can't change my footwear to slippers and walk around in a professional firm - and also because of the clients that are around and the impression they would get to see me washing my feet (my employers would not be pleased).Therefore I currently do maash and wipe over my socks. My socks are normal cotton ones, which water does come through a little. Is this wudhu acceptable and therefore are my prayers valid? (I follow Shaafi'i fiqh.) Also, on occassions when I am very busy with work for my managers and am short of time, I miss my prayers and do qada when I get home - is this ok?Secondly, there is a big drinking / pub culture here, and especially in my profession of auditing. My colleagues all go to the pub very regularly after work, and have always been understanding to my reasons for not going along. They are generally nice people, and have recently been saying we should all go for dinner since I do not go to the pub. While I do not feel I am missing out on anything by not going to the pub, they are making a gesture to me and trying to arrange an occassional alternative. Now I am quite certain these dinners will involve one or two of them having a few drinks with their meals. Can you comment on the acceptibility of going for a dinner like this? I do not feel I can impose on them and ask them not to drink at all, so is my only option to not go at all?Jazak'Allah Khairan.

Al Salam Alaykom Wa Rahmatou Allah Wa Barakatoh !We would like to know whether working in a company that uses the following strategy for marketing is Halal or Haram:It`s a multi-national company that uses network marketing as a way for marketing its product. It starts when you pay 60$ for one of the following two options: 1- You Get a Watch ( 4-6 weeks is the delivery procedure) 2- You Can choose a gold product in the future WITHOUTtagging it ( Reserving it )the plan works as following:You start referring people to the company ,that will come & buy a product exactly as mentioned before ( Either Direct Watch or Choosing a Gold product in the future) so they also become themselves costumer so they can start also referring people to the company.The company gives you commission using the following calculations:they use the Binary System: you only have two legs ( each represent your direct down line) whenever Three People join on your left hand side & another three on your right hand side you`ll get a commission of $30 It should be noted that it doesn`t matter whether those three people who joined the business are referred by you or by your down lines. It should be noted that all the company`s product are GOLD products ( coin- earing- neckless ...etc )this fifth step will be added to the tenth step and to the fifteenth step & so on... till it reaches a minimum amount of any products price,so we can choose it after collecting its price and then we can redeem it and buy it it should be noted that: 1- the company has an agent that he will personally deliver usthe product. 2- any product will be delivered within 4 to 6 weeks when it is redeemed.it should be noted that: 1- It`s an E-commerce business which means that all thetransactions, calculations, and commissions are through the internet. 2- all people when presented to the business were informed that people above them will earn commission after there registration and also they will after they refer people too. 3- all the products are valuable and worth there values. 4- all the commission earned are under the form of E-money, mainly there are three ways to en-cash the money:a- you can transfer to your bank account, plus you will lose 4% due to transaction fees. b- you can issue a check. c- you can buy e-card that will allow you to sign up (refer) people to the company through it.(knowing that the e-card  is an ID number that is a must to have in order to be a  customer in this company and it worth 60$). for example: if somebody decided to join this business will need an e-card to join,so if any customer has a commission of 60$, he can exchange it with an e-card and thus he can take the 60$. for further information please check the rules and regulations listed in the company`s website. www.goldmineint.com

As-Salamu `alaykum. This question is from a Muslim sister who adopted Islam recently. Her question is regarding riba in Islam. I know that it is haram to consume riba or interest, however, is it considered haram if one is working in a bank or post office that deals with interest? The sister is a student and is working in the post office during the summer and she is concerned about this question. Is it permissible f or her to work there on a temporary basis?

My question is related to work issues. Would it be haram (forbidden) to work in international organizations like USAID even if what the person is doing is totally halal (lawful)?In other words, is working in a project that handles training but is financed by USAID money halalor haram, in the sense that an organization like USAID has political motives other than helping developing countries? Should the person be concerned in himself only and what his job description is, or would it be crucial to look at the bigger picture concerning the whole world politics?
