The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “Slandering others is a sin that requires repentance. Sincere repentance to Allah necessitates asking Allah for forgiveness and to stop doing this sinful deed and to resolve not to do it again and to seek the pardon of this person and to mention him with good in front of people as much as you can. If one cannot seek his/her pardon, we should make du`a’ for him/her and to speak about him with good.
