Regarding the scientific proof of the effect of mentioning bismillah on an animal while slaughtering it, a great Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, said:
“I heard of something published to this effect. However, it should be clear that we pronounce basmalah on slaughtering an animal in obedience to Allah and His Messenger and as an act of worship. If it is proven scientifically that there is a benefit for that, this would be good and if this is not proven, then this has no effect on our approach.
