I am a hotel management graduate. I am currently working for a five-star hotel in London as a front-office night supervisor. My duties include handling the front desk and performing the auditing (accounts work). At the same time, my company makes me responsible for the room service, which includes handling food and beverages. I have never tasted alcohol in my life. But sometimes I have to touch the bottle of beer or I have to take it to the customer's room. Is it all right for me to touch an alcohol container?

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. Can a Muslim family take a Hindu maid to work in their house or invite Hindu, Sikh,or Buddhist person to their house? My mother-in-law says that “she won’t allow any Hindu to come in to the house.” She fears and believes that they will touch places and it will make it unclean, I suppose. Is her point of view the correct one? My husband also started thinking the same thing. Is this right or justified, when Islam calls us to be friendly to everybody? How one can call people to Islam as we all shall try to do, if we start giving the prerogatives to some and be disgusting or ignore the others? What I can do to make them feel friendly towards the unbelievers. Thank you very much.

salam'alaykum, my question is regarding wudu.every time im making wudu, usually whilst im making it, i end up breakin it. i cant help it, i cannot physically keep wudu. so ive been advised to do w udu close to each salaat time and read salaat no matter if my wudu breaks. i understand this. but my question is regarding wiping over the socks. if im doing wudu and as usual it breaks and i put my socks on. then for the next salaat can i do wudu by wiping over my socks. or should i remove them and wash my feet?at the moment when im at uni i wipe over my socks. but when im at home i keep rewashing my feet for each new wudu as i dont know wheter masah in my case will be allowed. jazakallah and wasallam

I want to know if the actual act is an innovation or the timing of it. for e.g. reading durood shareef loudly after jamah. On their arrival, they went to the mosque and adressed the congregation, and we heard ammar saying, "aysha had gone to basrah...and by allah she is the wife of your Prophet in this life and life hereafter, but Allah, the Most High, is testing you to know whom you obey: Him or her." Sahih Bukhari, vol 4 p161.Ibn Abbas said: Thursday, and what a Thursday that was! The Messenger's pain became very severe, and he said, "Come here, I will write you a document which will prevent you from straying from the right path." But Umar said that the Prophet was under the spell of the pain, and that they had the Quran which was sufficient being the Book of Allah. Ahl al-Bayt then differed and quarrelled amoungst themselves, some of them agreeing with what the Prophet said, while others supported Umar's view. When the debate became heated and the noise became louder, the Messenger of Allah said to them, "Leave me alone." The people who had started this rift and were successful in their plan to stop the Prophet(saw) from writing down who would succeed him."Thursday! And how tragic that Thursday was!" Then Ibn Abbas cried severely so that his tears flowed to his cheeks. Then he added Prophet said: "Bring me a flat bone or a sheet and an ink so that I could write (o rder to write) a statement that will prevent you people to go astray after me." They said: "Verily the messenger of Allah is talking no sense." "Thursday! And how tragic that Thursday was!" Then Ibn Abbas cried severely so that his tears flowed to his cheeks. Then he added Prophet said: "Bring me a flat bone or a sheet and an ink so that I could write (order to write) a statement that will prevent you people to go astray after me." They said: "Verily the messenger of Allah is talking no sense." As-Salaam Alaikum,When making supplication, should I say it by mouth (lafaz) or it is enough if I only say it in my heart? And If I have many wishes, do I have to repeat each and every wish 3 times when I supplicate?Jazakallah Khairan.

To take out nazr/ evil eye from a baby is the following practice islamically valid -"Whilst in the state of Wudhu, one should recite 3 times Durood (Salaat al-Nabiy), 5 times Surah al-Falaq, 5 times Surah al-Naas and 3 times Durood Shareef. Blow in water and use the water to bath the baby for 3 days.Also, take 7 dry red chillies, recite Aayaatul Kursi, Surah al-Falaq, Surah al-Naas and Surah al-Faatiha. Blow on the chillies. Take each chille individually and pass it over the child from head to toe and burn them after doing so. Insha Allah, Allah will remove the Nazr from the baby."

Dear sirassalamu alaikum. My question is in regard to smoking. I have heard some scholars say that smoking is classified as something which allah dislikes,but is not haram(better avoided) and some others saying it is haram. I ask this because my family runs a well established Beedi company(Indian form of cigarette). We have been running for above 60 years and employ about 30000 people who directly depend on us for livelyhood. We are very islamic my uncle says that he will stop the business the moment anyone proves it is haram on the basis of the quran and the sunnah. She is independent and works in madarsa for daily livings. Now she demands Khula (legal separation, husband does not give her Talaq due to money/ goods etc, he agrees for Khula), so, she wo uld like to ask that it is necessary  after Khula that she has to observe Iddat (confine at home for 4 months: though she did not meet her husband for the last 4 years) and does not work any more during that period (4 months) so in that case how she will  bear daily necessities.Please give an appropriate answer and solution in the light of shariah ( Quran and Sunnah).Thanks

But, i can't askin myself what is the position of Mary Magdalene in Islam ? You know brother in our weddings we mostly invite our friends and families, and mostly forget the poor and the needy? Can I give sadaqah instead? If yes then how much sadaqah lets say if the waleema costs 100 euros? Holy prophet (SAWW) says, beat the drums on your marriage. You know in our country women sit with a drum in our homes around ¾ days before the wedding and sing wedding songs, is that ok? If not can we pay some drummers (males)to beat the drums for us and dance with joy (no vulgarity)? What about dowry? Who pays whom? As-salaam-alay-kum, I have recently read some disturbing fatwas and needed to know your opinion in this matter. A non-muslim friend of mine read that Islam allows divorce even before marriage so he told me and I was very shocked too.  Seems like Hanafi and Maliki fiqhs allow divorce before marriage while Hanbali and Shafaee do not. For example, what I read also was that if an unmarried man made a statement while he was still single that "If I marry XYZ (named a lady) then she is divorced" then according to Hanafis and Mailikis the lady will be automatically divorced from him as soon as he marries her. What is your opinion on this issue? Also can you please provide me with any evidence (Quran or Sunnah) that validates Hanifi and Maliki opinions that a divorce statement before marriage is valid and applicable in future marriage. In short, why Hanafis and Malikis count this is divorce? So which opinion is more correct and supported by evidence? I need this to find out the truth on this matter so i can also educate my non-muslim friend that why it is like this. First of all, does the Mahdi live among us or will he be born? Will/is he a prophet?

Assalamu'alaykum.Is that permissible for a Muslim to eat any food cooked with wine? It is said that the wine or alcohol will evaporate as it is heated. So, most of it will be freed into the air as gas molecules. While the alcohol left in the food may has already changed to another type of substance or chemical which has lost the alcohol characteristic. In this case, may the 'istihalah' concept be applied?One more thing, can we consume the spirit vinegar? Unlike other vinegars, it contains smal l amount of alcohol but won't give the drunken or inebriated effect.JazakaLLah.

Salam Aleikom My parents got divorced (1st time) a few weeks ago. But before the EDAH (the 3 months wait time), my dad started an online relationship with a lady from (morocco ). My question is: Why was the 3 month wait time made? Meaning: was it made only because women could be pregnant? or was it made for both sides to review and give another chance to each other? My mom asked him if he could delay the marriage, and he refused. I never want to speak to him again, because he wants to leave us and go somewhere else, and we will be left in a foreign country. Please tell me that I'll not be the only one at fault.. And give me any advice you can, because I'm confused..& want to move out of the house (I don't want his money support & can't study at home) and am in the middle of tons of exams...Also is it haram for people to get a secret divorce? They don't want me to tell my friends to preclude any chance of remarriage..That's why I'm asking..

Salam alikum, my question is concerning wudu, my husband only do wudu part that is fard and mentioned in quraan and refuses to do complete wudu  as taken from the profet PBUH, and I want to know if what he is doing is correct or not? thank you

Concerning the Salah, is it obligatory to pray exactly how the Prophet (PBUH) prayed. For example, when I'm sitting to do the tashahood, I am unable to sit how the Prophet sat because it is uncomfortable and difficult. Is this okay to not sit like that or must I learn to sit how the Prophet sat ? Thank you

The situation is that she is having a difficult time and she said ask the shaykh at the local mosque as they are full of knowledge to make dua on my behalf because it is more accepted from them because they are people of knowledge and know more dua. So where shall my stance be here is it correct to say that someone who has knowledge can make dua it will be readily accepted or is it better for you to make dua in individual for your needs. Assalamu Alaikum I recently saw a baby and I noticed a black vertical line between his eyebrows drawn with kohl pencil or something similar. The father of the baby informed me that this is to keep the evil eye away and that it is from the ?sunnah?. I did research about this, and found nowhere any reference from the sunnah in relation to this practice ? I only found that it is a hindu and sikh practice, they believe it keeps evil eye away because the mark is like a blemish. Could you please advise? Thank you.

Have they not seen these publications? Why are well-known people like Dr. Al-`Awwa and Dr. Al-Qaradawi taking positions that would delude the common people?

I know that there are three situations that are of special importance for making du?a: the last third of the night, du?a during traveling and the du?a in sajdah while praying salah. However, a friend has now told me that the du?a in sajdah may only be conducted in sunna or nafila prayers but not in those that are fard. - I would be very greatful if you could clarify this point for me. I am 27 years male from India. I have few questions regarding my marriage; 1. My parents want to marry me to cousin (daughter of my father?s elder sister). They are pressurizing me to say yes to their will and do the engagement. She is a quite beautiful, moderate(low) practicing Muslimah and has little education (12th standard). This is justified in two ways: First, one has no option in a Western country that does not have Islamic banking - and hence you need to borrow to be able to acquire a car and a home. Second, the prohibited interest refers to excessive interest over and above an acceptable rate (usurious rate). Interest at or below the average is acceptable. Al Salam Alikum,I am expecting a new baby in the coming week or so in Shaa Allah. I want to make sure that I follow the proper Sunnah related to the birth of a baby. While I know all the rituals, I am hesitant to shave his head just because I am afraid that I will hurt him since I have no experience doing that. My wife is more afraid than I am and insisting on shaving the baby?s head might lead to a problem in the household amidst what is supposed to be a happy occasion. Is it possible to avoid shaving his head while remaining faithful to this Sunnah. For example, can we estimate the weight of the baby?s hair, find out how much it costs in terms of gold or silver and donate the equivalent in cash? SalaamalaikumThis is Ahmad Nafees; I am working in Dubai and belong to small place in North India near Faizabad city in Uttar Pradesh. During EID Al Adha people overwhelmingly do the Qurbani. But their practice of slaughter looks a bit strange to me.It is practice that a scholar (Hafiz or any graduate of local Madarsah) initially slaughters the animal for the people (typically first 30 seconds). After word the professional slaughters do the rest of the job. The purpose of starting with the scholar is that he recites the Dua, which I guess majority of the people doesn?t memorize.  I have three small questions regarding the method of slaughtering and dua;1. Is there any specific Dua that a person to recite at the beginning of animal slaughtering? If yes then please give the details of the Dua? 2. Is the practice of slaughtering followed in my city is justified under the legal guidance of Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH)? 3. In case a person does not remember the Dua, can he still starts the slaughter of the animal. And the scholar can recite the Dua fro him.May Allah guide us on Siraat ?al-Mustaqeem

Is female genital mutilation allowed in Islam?I have read somewhere in a hadith that the Prophet pbuh said cut only the foreskin of the clitoris n not cut deeply.Here is the hadith.  "Cut off only the foreskin (outer fold of skin over the clitoris; the prepuce) but do not cut off deeply (i.e. the clitoris itself), for this is brighter for the face (of the girl) and more favorable with the husband."Is this hadith true?Isn't there any risk involved in female circumcision?As in Africa the people cut off all of the external genital like the clitoris and the labia minora and that involves alot of health risks like infections,HIV and problems in married life.I am really confused over this matter...if female circumcision is allowed and obligatory in Islam then why havent i seen anyone doing this??  Please help me clear my doubts on this.

Some time ago I got acquainted with the 19 miracle theory and I have to confess that it sounds to a great extent convincing ? especially the calculations connected to Basmalah: really impressive and very easy to check (!) for everybody.however, there is an issue making me really upset. Dr. Edip Yuksel in his book ?Above it is 19? insists (as Dr. Rashad Khalifa did, too) that the last two ayahs of the surah ?at-Tawbah? (9:128-129) do not belong to the Qur?an. One of the most interesting arguments are is the existence of a narrative according to which a serious controversy took place when these two ayahs were being added to the Qur?an ? later than the main part of this surah. First of all, ?Ali bin Abi Taleeb was so much indignant that even refused to take part in the election of the first Khalifah, Abu Bakr. However, his opinion was not finally taken into consideration. So, my question is: Please, could you give me information ? as detailed as possible ? about, - FIRST, whether or not such a controversy really did place in history and, - IF YES, what kind of arguments were used by both sides and how was it finally provedthat the ayahs 9:128-129 do really belong to the Qur?an? - BESIDES, whether or not some independent investigation of the (hypothetical) mathematical structure of the Qur?an was ever made? (I mean, NOT by Dr. Rashad Khalifa?s backers or opponents?) I do realize to what extent serious a matter all of these are and WHAT is finally at stake.this is why I am asking you to give as more details as possible over both topics.thank you very much in advance. Volume 1, Book 8, Number 368:narrated 'Aisha:allah's Apostle used to offer the Fajr prayer and some believing women covered with their veiling sheets used to attend the Fajr prayer with him and then they would return to their homes unrecognized .does this hadith indicate that there is face veil in islam... as a face veil must have been used to be unrecognized

I'm going to visit my wife this summer (2008), we have not consummated since marriage ceremony has not taken place yet. it will be almost a year after the signing of the contract that I see my wife. Salam Mu alkam brother, I just have one quick question regarding Ghusol or ritual bathing. I tend to have a normal shower everyday and then do wadoo and then pray. Is there anything wrong with this method, I know alot of people follow the sunnah bathing, but can one just have a normal shower and then do wadoo and then pray?

Assalamu alikum. I am a collg student. I was involved in a relationship with a girl about a year back. I was very close to he .eventually I realized that all this was haram and we broke up but I still love her. We used to talk a lot on the phone. And I used to masturbate sometimes while talking though she never knew about it. I have repented lots of times and by the grace of Allah am trying to be  a devout Muslim now. Salam ou 3alaykoumtwo years ago  someone started to spread rumors about me according to its I do some act to bother the people around me. En deed  I do some of this act but owing of illness  and not to bother the others. In the town where I used to live people didn't pay attention to those acts.the local habitant apparently feeling offended: react toward this.After that time has gone and the things were clarified.And now I classified people into those categories:1-people who act normally toward me 2-people who dislike me and don't miss any opportunity to annoy me (in the street, on Tv, in my native town...) 3-people who deal with me with caution and can from time to time ( under the pressure and because of habit apparently ) to do as the second category 4-new people who heard bad rumors from the second category...until now I was dealing differently with this situation trying more to focus on the main purpose of being here (Studies).But recently I had learned about a Hadith in which the Prophet PBUH relates to have sawn in a vision angel pouring liquid lead in the ears of some people an angel said to the prohet PBUH that those people used to listen to those who dislike them.To which limit should I apply this hadith?Jazakoum Allaho khairan

As-salamu `alaykum. My question is on usury.Allah has said in the Qur'an that usury is totally haram, and that anyone who defies this is in direct defiance to Allah. I have read and heard many scholars advising people to give away interest money earned in conventional banks to charities and the like without any intention of reward.Is that not already defying Allah?also, if interest is haram to consume, how can one give his or her poison to someone else?I have also read an article in which a scholar argues that if the interest money is left with the banks, it will strengthen the banks. Does Almighty Allah need your help to take that money to another place? Is that not defying Allah? Should it not just be left alone for Allah to decide the future of it or the financial institution? Assalamu alaikum! 1.I wonder is there any known reason why Allah has permitted a muslim man to marry a woman from the people of the book? 2.Are there any restrictions , or can the muslim men just if they want to marry a christian or a jewish woman, do it just like that? It is mentioned so many times in the quran that is so important to be a good muslim and to die as a muslim. Allah compared a believing person and a non believing person as a living and a dead person. That the greatest sin is shirk and that they are the worst of people. I just don?t understand why it is allowed to marry someone committing this sin. Is there any known explination. I know that Allah is All-knowing and the most wise and He   knows best and wants only what is good for us.  But what is good with this kind of interfaith marriage? I don?t question His rulings but I just would like to understand why.the prophet Mohammed sawm adviced us to choose our friends , to be with those who brings us closer to Allah. But something that is so serious like marriage, how come you can live with someone that will not bring you close to Allah, actually the opposite. I already find it hard to have nonmuslim friends or non practising muslim friends. I have nonmuslim friends but I avoid spending much time with them because of  their bad habits and their bad way of life. I find that we have so little in comment. I don?t care why is not allowed for a muslim woman to marry a non muslim man, I don?t even wish that so it?s just fine. I accept this ruling as I do with His all other rulings because it?s from Allah and I must always obey him but I just wonder if there is any explanation why? Why is it a such a big distinction between for example a hindu and a christian or a jew.after all aren?t they all committing shirk? Allah said that all people that dies with shirk without repenting will abide in hell fire forever and only true, rigtheous muslims with the aid of the grace of Allah will enter paradise. 3.Or will Allah make a distinction between someone from the people of the book and someone beleiving in for ex. hinduism, buddhism or atheism etc. in the hereafter.

If the husband wants to sleep with his wife but she does not want to and she is not sick and there is nothing wrong with her; she just does not like it, so he ends up sleeping with her by force, is this allowed in Islamic jurisprudence? Is this considered a kind of a rape? Today many self-styled Islamic clerics claim that this is totally permissible according to the authentic narrations of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Jazakum Allahu Khayran.

If this is not shirk, is it just a sin that will result in her losing her faith? Is politics haraam?

Aslam wa Alaekum Does going to Hajj and if Allah SWT accetps our Hajj, wipe out all of our sins?  I mean all sins including those that we committed against our souls, those that have been commited against the rights that Allah has over us (like prayer, fasting, ect), and sins that we have commited against others (like backbiting and cheating).  Assuming we come back from Hajj with the sincere intention of performing our obligations, seeking forgiveness and sincere repentance, will all of our sins be forgiven.  I was told my one person that only the sins that you have committed against Allah are forgiven but the sins that you commit against others are not forgiven even after going to Hajj.  Is that true?

Dear scholars of Islam  Peace be with you, I want to ask for your reply to a grave item of the propaganda against Islam: some orientalists and Islam critics say that the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessing be upon him married ?Aisha when she was just 9 years old and they accordingly claim that the Prophet was ?God forbid- a pedophile! Is being 9 years old enough for any person to marry? Won?t that make that person naturally immature sexually, physically and psychologically?and it is almost certain that puberty cannot be reached at such an age; because I heard some people saying in response that puberty is reached in an early age in hot countries, but actually what I studied and what is certain in physiology (I am a medical student by the way) assures the contrary: that the closer we come to the equator, the later the age of puberty is. Please give me an answer to this question that almost everybody stirs up when to deface Islam when we talk about it and its Prophet peace and blessing of God be upon him.

I have a question about sexual relationship between husband and wife.as a young unmarried man, I want to know what is legal and what is not according to the holy Quran. Is it legal to have sex with ones wife with no intention to have children, only to fulfill ones desire? And is it legal to have sex several times during the week?And another question; I have heard that when people get married that their sins will be cleared, I mean that the counting of sins starts from zero again, like you were reborn. AlSalaam AlikumI have no children and my parents have agreed in writing with witnesses that their share of my wealth upon my death go to my wife.   My question is can I write a will that upon my death I can distribute the rest of my wealth as I wish between my brothers and sisters depending on their need or must it be equal to each one?

salaam, could you please explain the following hadith, is it still applicable today: - Muslim, Book 005, Number 2238: Hammam b. Munabbih said: These are some of the a hadith of Muhammad. the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him), transmitted to us on the authority of Abu Huraira. So he narrated one hadith out of them (as this): The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: No woman should observe fast when her spouse is present (in the house) but with his permission. And she should not admit any (mahram) in his house, while he (her husband) is present, but with his permission. And whatever she spends from his earnings without his sanction, for him is half the reward.
