Dr. Rif`atFawzi, former head of the department of Shari`ahatCairo University, states the following:
“One’s love for Allah’s sake is usually done among people who are not linked through a blood relationship. As for those whom one is linked to a blood relationship and their love, we would like to stress that one’s love in this regard should be done in accordance to what pleases Allah by sticking to what He Almighty prescribes and refraining from what He prohibits.
All in all, one’s love can be solely for Allah if it purely for His sake, and if one is keen to do what pleases Him. Above all, it depends on one’s intention.”
