Sheikh `Abdul-Majeed Subh, a prominent Azharite scholar, states: “It should be clear that there is no opposition from the Shari`ah point of view to know and study Western law or what people of other religions have. This may support us in two ways:
1. it increases our understanding to what we have in our religion and laws.
2. it helps us know more about others, the proper way to argue with them, and how to clarify them the merits and traits of what we have
So, there is nothing wrong in studying law at a western University.”
