Straitening a curly hair in order to manage it and prevent it from damage will not solve the problem, because once it becomes wet, it returns to its original state and this is hard to be avoided during the entire period of Hajj. Thus, when combed, the hair will drop and the fidyah (a prescribed compensation) has to be paid. Moreover, it should be noted that during the rites of Hajj a Muslim should be disheveled to be more humble as indicated in the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

So, as long the hair is covered, there will be no need to comb it during the period of Hajj.
