It should be noted that in the field of worship, we have to stick to what comes from the Prophet and do not innovate something that he did not do, so when we do any prayer or do any act of worship we must have a proof from the Qur’an and Sunnah indicating that this type of prayer or worship is permissible. The Prophet(peace be upon him) said “Pray as you have seen me praying.” (sunan ad-Darimi)
Responding to this issue, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, an Islamic scholar said:
“There is no basis for setting aside Thursday night for special prayers; it is definitely an innovation. So keep away from it.”
