In his response to this issue, Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal Nadvi, states:
“We are commanded by Allah to send peace and invoke blessings on Prophet Muhammad. Allah says: “Indeed Allah and His Angels send peace and blessings on the Prophet; O you who believe, send peace and blessings on him.” (Al-Ahzab 33:56)
The problem lies however on conflicting with the prophet’s Sunnah, innovating in the completed message that he left behind or in refraining from the best example he gave us.
