With their positive contributions to the communities and nations where they live, Muslims will surely give a clear picture about Islam. Muslims should also stop speaking the language of the victimized. If they do so, it will be too difficult for them to obtain their legal and constitutional rights in their respective societies.
Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a Senior Lecturer and Islamic Scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states the following: “As Muslims, we believe that the life of this world is all about struggle. So we must first understand the truth about our religion and stand up to proclaim it without fear. This is the lesson we learn from the stories of Prophets in the Qur’an. Our time is no different from theirs.
We must also learn the Prophetic method of communicating the message and changing the society, for, as all objective historians have readily recognized, the Prophet’s work was a standing miracle. So we have no choice but to acquaint ourselves with the strategies and methods employed by the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), as he converted a people who had fought to exterminate him and his followers into a vanguard of Islamic faith—all in a short span of twenty-three years.
Muslims must never give up. It is high time that we stop speaking the language of despair, cynicism, and victimhood; rather, we must be confident and assertive. With faith in Allah and ourselves, we can change around the circumstances in our favor. “Verily, Allah’s mercy is with those who excel in their works!” (Ar-A`raf: 56).”
