Non-Muslim country

Dear Sheikh, what does Islam say about traveling and living in European countries for any reason: educational, economical or others. I am now living in Pakistan, and most of the people now travel abroad because of some problems. Is this lawful?

As-Salamu `alaykum wa Rahmatu Allah wa Barakatuh. In some time, people usually travel abroad for recreation and tourism. What do you think of Muslims traveling to a non-Muslim country for the sake of tourism and sightseeing?

Could you please answer my question: Should a Muslim obey the laws of a non-Muslim country while living there? My friend told me that we do not have to obey them, as we have not made an explicit agreement. Please provide evidence.
