Zainab Al-Alwani, Instructor of Fiqh and Islamic Studies, Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences, states the following: “It is allowed to give the ransom, by feeding one poor person for each day you missed, according to the opinion of Ibn `Abbas and others scholars, if a woman missed a previous Ramadan due to pregnancy or breastfeeding and if however, she’s also pregnant in the present Ramadan, it should be noted that after in sha’ Allah she delivers the baby and finish the period of nifas (post-child birth bleeding), if you feel strong to fast, you can make up the days you missed. It is allowed to make the days successively and you can take a break, then you have the whole year to make up for the missed days.”
