Sheikh `Abdul-Majeed Subh, a prominent Azharite scholar, states: “From the point of view of permissibility or impermissibility, there is nothing wrong with eating such chicken if you mean that they have produced chicken meat using test-tube or an industrial means and specialists say that there is no harm in eating it. However, there comes the custom in eating this chicken. I do not like such chicken produced in this way. It is mentioned that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was invited to a meal including lizard (dabb) he refused to eat from it saying that “the people of my place of residence do not eat it; so I disgust eating it.”
