Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto,Ontario, Canada, states: “It is perfectly all right to eat and drink and cook after sexual union before performing the ritual bath (ghusl). There is nothing in the authentic sources of Islam to suggest otherwise. One of the important principles to remember is: Things are permitted unless forbidden.”

However, it should be clear that spouses are encouraged to take bath as soon as possible to be eligible for Prayer unless there is a reason for the delay such as the very coolness of water or the non-existence of water and they had performed the Prescribed Prayer on time.
