As Muslim we are urged to invoke Allah in every minute day and out. We do need that as Allah the Almighty says: (When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: let them also, with a will, listen to My call, and believe in Me: that they may walk in the right way.) ( Al-Baqarah 2:186)
There are loads of prophetic traditions which address the same issue. Although Allah is telling us to invoke Him, He is not in need for our supplication as it is reported in the Qudis Hadith that neither our piety will avail Him, nor our wickedness will hurt Him.
Coming to the topic, there is nothing specific in this regard but we can use any formula of du’aa if we memorize some. Also, there is a specific prayer if a muslim has a request or there is something they want to get and they need Allah’s help. The prayer is called (salat al-Hajah) or the prayer for getting guidance and support of Allah for any issue. According to some scholars, it is only two rak’as and one can perform them any time. We can make a specific du’a as asking Allah for a job, home, wife, etc., or any thing concerns us.
In order to make our du’a’ accepted by Allah, we need to do it with sincerity and of course we should not forget to seek the lawful ways for out livelihood. We should neither feed ourselves nor our children with anything that Allah made prohibited. Otherwise, Allah will not respond to our du’a’.
May Allah accept our prayers and give us success in both this life and in the hereafter. Ameen.
