The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “After the five obligatory Prayer not only Fajr and `Asr, the praying Muslim should glorify Allah (say subhana Allah) thirty-three times, praise Allah (say Al-Hamdu lillah) thirty-three times and make takbir (say Allahu akbar or Allah is greater) thirty-three times. It is also reported that after Fajr and Maghrib, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say the following form of dhikr ten times: la ilaha illa Allah wahdahu la sharika lah lahu al-mulk wa lahu alhamd yuhiy wa yumit wa huwa `ala kull shay’in qadir (There is no god but Allah. He is Alone. There is no partner with Him. Sovereignty belongs to Him and to Him all praise is due. He causes life and death. And, He has power over anything.) He also used to say the following form of dhikr seven times: Allahumma inni as’aluka ridaka waljannah wa’a`udhu bika min sakhatika wannar (O Allah, I ask you Your content and Paradise and I seek refuge in You from Your discontent and Hell).
If after the above-mentioned forms of dhikr one like to increase the numbers or say any other forms of dhikr and du`aas after any Prayer, this is something good and will be rewarded by Allah as the door of dhikr and du`aa’ is wide open with no limits.”
