The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “As far as Islamic Shari`ah is concerned, it is permissible for a husband to combine between his wife and her stepmother. There is nothing in the Shari`ah sources to prevent him from doing that if the requirements of valid marriage are fulfilled. What is prohibited is to combine between a woman and her (natural) mother, sister or aunt.
