The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “As long as we are in a state of wudu’ before wearing the cotton socks, then there is nothing wrong with that according to the opinion of some Muslim scholars who are of the opinion that it is permissible to wipe over cotton socks as long as they are thick. Hence, prayer is valid as well as tawaf and pilgrims are in no need for Dam/expiation.
