Assalaam-u Alaikum Wa Rahmat-Allah(S).I wanted to ask regarding the prayers while on a journey.If one is travelling on the airoplane and the time for Zuhr, Asr, or Maghrib prayer approaches, then where and how (many Raka'ahs) is one to pray. Could you please specify the number of Raka'ahs needing to be prayed for the above prayers.Also if the ablution breaks while on the airoplane then how must one perform their ablution? AOAHow far can a woman travel without a mahram being with her.  If I want to travel to another town which will take me 1 hour or 1 1/2 hour to get to, is it okay for me to drive there myself? (of course with my husband's permission?)

Dear scholars, As-Sa lamu `alaykum. What is the Islamic view on women traveling alone? Is having a mahram (a close male relative or husband) a prerequisite even if the woman can take care of herself and take necessary precautions? I am planning to attend an Islamic program in New York for two weeks but couldn't find a mahram or even a sister to come along. I have made the necessary arrangements with the organizer to even fetch me from the airport. My parents don't allow it because I will be away for more than three days and without a mahram. His plane was after Fajr, so he intended to fast in Egypt and was supposed to have iftar in Morrocco after the time of iftar in Egypt with 3 hours. Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I understand that when traveling, the rules for Prayers for travelers only take effect after you leave your place of residency. However, what is the rule if you know that, for example, you are leaving your town after Zhuhr Prayer and will not arrive at your destination until Maghrib. Can you pray and combine your Zhuhr and `Asr while in your city at the time of Zhuhr? If not, what is the right thing to do? Jazakum Allah khayran.

I am traveling for a month and then going back home; am I allowed to pray qasr (to shorten my prayer), taking into consideration that I know in advance that I am going for a defined period, or should I pray in the normal way?
