I have recently become Muslim, but my family does not know yet. I plan to tell them when the time is right. My question regards a traditional dish that contains pork. I know I cannot eat this dish with pork, but I am expected to make this dish, but I do not know if it is allowed in Islam. I suggested beef instead of pork, but that did not go over so well. Perhaps you can tell me what I can do?

It is now summer time and many Muslim youth, especially those living in the West, need to have certain activities to make the best use of their summer vacation. Can you please explain to us some da`wah activities that we should focus on for Muslim youth?

Alsalamo Alaykom wa Rahmato Alla wa Barakato, My wife has newly converted to Islam and her sister (still christian)has given her a cross (the one that you wear as a necklace). She (my wife) still loves her family and will always do and does not want to upset them. My question is :- Is it ok for her (my wife) to keep the cross as a present from her sisrter?also can she wear it (not all the time and just every now and then) as a present from her sister? What’s the ruling of people who said “I’m not a Muslim” jokingly? Does he have to renew his syahadah? How about those who says wrongly, but yet ignorant about Islam (i.e those who say that hijab is not obligatory for muslim women, but he didn’t really know what he’s talking about). I work as an administrative assistant for a Jewish firm and my boss is a very honest and kind employer. When I need a few minutes off for my prayers or I want to go home early during Ramadan, he is very accommodating and understanding. Is it wrong to work for a Jew? What about the money earned?

Dear scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. Whenever the month of Ramadan comes near, Muslims get divided into two groups. The majority starts fasting and celebrates `Eid with their local community. This group follows a major local organization such as the Islamic Society of North America, which is a well-established organization in North America. But the other group, which is a minority, always creates a division and disunity within the community and follows Saudi Arabia (or its own mother country) in starting and ending their observation of the holy month. For the sake of the unity, don't you think the Muslim community should unite and start and end fasting on the same day?
