I know that chocolate which has alcohol in it is haram... but what if I bought one and I thought it didn't have alcohol but I realised later after I bought it (before I eat it) that "barley malt extract" was alcohol (i was in a hurry when I bought it so i was looking for any "ol"s and I didn't notice "barley") I didn't eat it. I'm thinking of giving it to my non-muslim teacher. Is it haram to do so? Or should I just throw it? It's just that I want to give some sort of thanks to that teacher because he's my supervisor in all Duke of Edinburgh's awards and he was good... and this is my last year, so I thought I'd give it to him instead of throwing it. Can I do that or is that considered part of "transporting wine"?

I am a Junior Doctor at a Hospital in the UK. and as such, I have to prescribe the usual medicines for the patients on the ward, moreover, and not very occasionally, I get asked to prescribe Alcoholic drinks for patient, especially for elderly patients who are used to take it every night for example. and some times at special occasions e.g. Christmass. I have managed to so far to avoid presrcibing such drinks by asking my colleages to do so. But I know that oen time I wont be able to ask a colleage for one reason or the other. So I wonder what's the Fiqh's stance on this issue, and what is the best course of action for me.thanks and may Allah bless you all.

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. Is it permissible to use aftershave that contains alcohol? Does the type of alcohol contained in the aftershave make a difference? I have asked around and have received conflicting answers. Please advise.

Assalamu alikum warahmatulahi wabarakatuhuI've  allergies and i normally use medication that would make me sleepy but the problem is that those medicaton has alcohol but the ones that doesnt make me sleepy does not help me.Is it haraam to use the medication with alcohol? Jazakala kyre

I am a hotel management graduate. I am currently working for a five-star hotel in London as a front-office night supervisor. My duties include handling the front desk and performing the auditing (accounts work). At the same time, my company makes me responsible for the room service, which includes handling food and beverages. I have never tasted alcohol in my life. But sometimes I have to touch the bottle of beer or I have to take it to the customer's room. Is it all right for me to touch an alcohol container?

Scholars of Islam, as-salamu `alaykum. Recently, I have read in the news that some Muslim scholars say the Hanafi madhab (school of fiqh) may allow Muslims to sell alcohol in a non-Muslim country. If this is true, what are the conditions and what is the proof of that ruling?

Muslim men are allowed to marry Christian or Jewish women without converting them to Islam. The Muslim husbands are required to respect the religion of such wives. The question I’d like to ask is: Can a Muslim husband allow his Christian or Jewish wife to drink wine and eat pork in his house? Can such wife take wine and eat pork when she visits her Christian relatives or friends?

Asalamalaykom, Is it permissible to use rulings and fatwas of various schools of thought in understanding ones religion, what about if I am not usually adhearing to a particular school of thought is it still permissible to use rulings sometimes.I also have a fatwa from a reliable source which states that the hanafi school of thought holds that it is permissible to deal in unlawful things such as alcohol and pork in non muslim countries, is it ok to use this theory and would dealing include serving?Gazzakumallah

As-salamu `alaykum. I've been told that we are not allowed to enter a hotel or restaurant where alcohol is served. Is there any hadith that prohibits us from entering a place where there is alcohol?
