Dr. Rif`at Fawzi, former head of the department of Shari`ah at Cairo University, states the following: “Indeed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have encourages his followers and all Muslims after them to seek proper medication. This is clarified in many of the Prophetic hadiths in this regard. For example, the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) is reported to have said, “For each disease there is a cure; and when the treatment is given, the disease is cured by the Will of Allah.” (Reported by Ahmad and Muslim)
As for the eczema, I don’t know of any Prophetic hadith or even a traceable tradition in which the Prophet prescribed a medicine for it. A Muslim is encouraged to seek medication for every illness he faces by seeking professional doctors who are better able to treat him using all forms of lawful medicine.
May Allah put a quick end to all the diseases we face and may He grant us all insight to understand the teachings of Islam.”
