The prominent Muslim scholar and Da`iyah, Zeinab Mustafa, responded to this issue as thus:
“Valentine Day is a pagan day. Therefore, Muslims should not celebrate it at any case. Promoting practices related to Valentine and others strengthens the commercial ideas behind them and let them grow by time. So Muslims should refrain from such celebration.
As for other days like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, some of them were invented as for commercial purpose, and some were invented as ways to improve the social relations that have been deteriorating in the west. We as Muslims should be proud of our Eid and never take any other day as holy and sacred as our Eid. We should never lose our identity, but rather stick to it and play our role in improving social relations.”
