We should know that Muslim women’s covering of their faces is a juristic issue that is not based on cultural reasons. By a juristic issue I mean that jurists from early periods of juristic contributions up till now have differed whether covering the face is obligatory on Muslim women or not; needless to say that apart from the face and the two palms the rest of the woman’s body has unanimously to be decently covered so that no part of the body is shaped or revealed from underneath. So, those Muslim women who cover their faces do so because they believe that it is obligatory or recommended to do so. It is a matter of conviction not a cultural custom.
