In the midst of the current barbaric, oppressive Israeli attacks against Gaza , it is a shame upon any honorable person, Muslim or a non-Muslim, to remain idle and fail to assist these oppressed people.
Everybody, ruler or ruled, should spare no efforts to alleviate the suffering of the oppressed people in Gaza . Muslim governments and individuals should carry out their Sharia–based duty and help the people in Gaza by utilizing all possible and available means.
Also, it is allowed to perform the funeral prayer in absentia for the martyrs of Gaza.
Responding to this, Dr. Sano Koutoub Moustapha said:
It is allowed to pray the funeral prayer in absentia for the martyrs of Gaza . This is so as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray the funeral prayer in absentia. Yet, it is also an obligation upon all fellow Muslims to assist them in every possible way and to remember them in their prayers and du`aa’. May Allah accept them among the martyrs on the Day of Judgment!
Sheikh `Abdul-Majeed Subh , a prominent Azharite scholar said:
Offering the funeral Prayer in absentia for martyrs is a controversial issue among jurists.
According to Shafi`i scholar, there is nothing wrong in performing salat al-gha’ib for our brothers in Gaza .
It is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) prayed salat al-gha’ib for An-Najashi after his death.
