Dr. Rif`at Fawzi, former professor of Shari`ah at Cairo Univ., states: “As far as Islamic Shari`ah is concerned, it is permissible to give out charity on behalf of someone else. It depends on one’s intention when he gives out the charity whether he does so on his behalf or on someone else’s behalf.

The one who gives out charity on behalf of someone else will be rewarded by Allah. Only Allah knows the exact reward because it depends on one’s sincerity and intention and the charity itself. It is Allah alone Who estimates the reward of good deeds. What we have to do is to do the good deed sincerely asking Allah to accept it.”
