It should be noted that the Qur’an when talking about the revealed books, it gave high respect to all of them. Both the Torah and the Gospel are initially the words of Allah. Although they witnessed some distortion but still have some trace of being divine books.
Dr. Rif`at Fawzi, former professor of Shari`ah at Cairo Univ., states: “Some Muslims consider that gospel to be authentic, but we do not know if it should be dated back to the first century or not. In addition, it is banned by the Eastern and Western churches so even if was authentic they do not consider it as one of their books at all. In it, there are many prophecies that foretold the emergence of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).”
