The prominent Muslim scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal Nadvi, Director and Imam of Al-Falah Islamic Center, Oakville, Ontario, Canada, states: “If one can avoid it, it is better; but if they have no option but to attend, then they should advise the people of their concerns and let them know that they cannot sit on a table where alcohol is served. This is based on the hadith where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that a Muslim is not permitted to sit in a table where the alcohol is served.
