Real happiness and peace can be found in submitting to the Commands of the Creator and the Sustainer of this world. One of the main blessings of Allah upon Muslims is that He provided them with sustenance, aided them with tranquillity and backed them with solid and firm belief, which is the source of their strength and might.
Dr. Ahmad Ar-Raysouni, professor of Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence at Moroccan Universities states the following: “Sustenance and tranquillity are one of the main Blessings of Allah upon Muslims. Referring to this, Allah Almighty says: “… So let them worship the Lord of this House. Who hath fed them against hunger and hath made them safe from fear.” (Quraysh: 3-4)
Thus, both sustenance and tranquillity are necessary to keep both man’s body and spirit upright.
Indeed, achieving man’s physical, psychological and spiritual tranquillity is not only restricted to saving his life from being terminated but it goes far to encompass peace of mind with aim to attain complete internal and external tranquillity and calmness.
In more than one verse, the Qur’an directed believers to be keen on achieving inner tranquillity, which originally emanates from having firm belief in Allah’s Omnipotence and Omniscience. It also emanates from worshipping Allah, often remembering Him, imploring Him earnestly. Referring to this, Allah Almighty says: “Who have believed and whose hearts have rest in the remembrance of Allah. Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” (Al-Ra`d: 28)
Thus, even if peace and security are lacking the society, a true believer always finds rest, peace of mind and tranquillity by resorting to His Lord, depending on Him only. Allah Almighty says: “ Those who believe and obscure not their belief by wrong doing, theirs is safety; and they are rightly guided” (Al-An`am: 82)”
