This is what should be done. Never think that is your nature and you cannot change it. It could be a trial like any other disease that afflicts a person.
Have trust in Allah and pray humbly to Him to guide you and help you recover your true nature. Turn in penitence and shed tears so that He sends His mercy upon you.
As for the people of Lut, their story is mentioned in the Qur`an in different chapters. The men among them we perverted and homosexual who favored having sex with men. Lut, the noble prophet warned them against this abominable act but they belied him were about to do away with him. Finally, as they persisted in their perversion and turned away from the truth, Allah sent upon them the most severe punishment. See, for example, 11:77-83 and 13:57-77 from the Qur’an.
