The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “There is no evidence in the Shari’ah that suggests that this act is impermissible. Having such belief is unfounded and there is nothing in the sources of Shari`ah to the effect that it is not permissible for a musalli to wear a turban while praying behind an imam who does not wear one. Whether the follower wears or does not wear a turban, the Prayer is valid and there is nothing in the sources of Shari`ah telling that the congregation in a case like the one you mentioned is makruh (reprehensible).”
