Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states: As for the precise forms of sadaqah jariyah, there are a number of ways:
1. Set up funds or scholarships for poor students to study;
2. Build or contribute towards building hospitals where there are no hospitals;
3. Dig wells or help dig them in places where people need water;
4. Publish and distribute essential da’wah materials;
5. Promote Islamic knowledge.
There are not limits to what can be done. Look around and see what is most needed in the community you live. If there is no need there, then think of other areas of the world where people live in subhuman living conditions and help set up ongoing charitable projects in order to help them.
